Research Specialist (Mid-Senior Level) - Community Health Sciences

The Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is the leading unit of its type in Pakistan, recognized regionally and internationally for the relevance, quality, and extent of its work in support of public health and the development of primary health care systems. It comprises of five major operational sections: Epidemiology & biostatistics, Health policy & management, Population & reproductive health, Environmental health & climate change, and non-communicable diseases & mental health.

This is a grant funded contractual position.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible to:

• provide technical assistance to the DG Health Office MIS Unit in reviewing and utilizing EPI and Polio programme data
• support implementation of PEI-EPI synergy activities to improve immunization and polio programme outcomes
• coordinate with Government stakeholders and relevant programme teams to strengthen collaboration between EPI and Polio
• collect, compile, clean and analyze quantitative and qualitative programme data from relevant health information systems
• review and analyze data from systems including DHIS2, SEIR, Polio and EMR and support timely data visualization and presentations
• conduct field visits, data collection, structured observations and data quality assessments as required
• support monitoring of assigned activities against approved workplans and milestone requirements
• contribute to the development of indicators, progress-tracking and reporting tools
• prepare technical reports, briefs, dashboards, meeting presentations and other documentation to support decision-making
• document field visits, meetings, activities and key findings
• identify data quality issues and support validation and standardization of programme data
• undertake any other related responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:

You should have:

• Master’s degree, preferably MSPH, in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Information Systems or a related discipline
• more than five years of relevant professional experience, preferably with Polio, EPI, infectious diseases, surveillance or health information systems
• demonstrated understanding of Government health information and reporting systems, including SEIR, Polio, DHIS2, EMR and/or related platforms
• experience in programme data analysis, visualization, reporting and presentation
• proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel
• experience in public health, immunization or surveillance programmes will be an advantage
• good written and verbal communication skills in English and Urdu
• strong coordination and stakeholder engagement skills
• ability to work independently in field settings and meet reporting deadlines
• good analytical, documentation and problem-solving skills.
