Staff Product Manager (Consumer AI/B2B)

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Join a fast-growing, venture-backed consumer AI company building a learning platform already used by more than 1.5 million students worldwide, with approximately 40,000–50,000 new students joining every week across markets including the UK, Ireland, Brazil, South Africa and Australia.

The company is entering an important stage of growth and is expanding both its consumer platform and B2B/schools offering across multiple international markets.

We are looking for a highly experienced Staff Product Manager to work directly with the founder and take significant ownership of the product function.

This is a high-impact role with real influence over product direction, prioritisation, metrics, roadmap structure and how the product organisation evolves as the business moves beyond founder-led prioritisation.

The team strongly values face-to-face collaboration. This is a Lisbon-based hybrid role, with 2–3 days per week in the office strongly preferred.

PROJECT & CONTEXT

You will work directly with the founder to build and run the product function across both the consumer/B2C platform and schools/B2B roadmap, supporting continued international expansion.

You will own key product outcomes including engagement, retention and conversion, while partnering closely with engineering and design to scope, prioritise and ship.

A major part of the role will be helping establish the processes, roadmap structure and decision-making frameworks required as the company scales beyond founder-led product prioritisation.

You will:

  • Own core product metrics including engagement, retention and conversion.
  • Define and defend the KPIs that should guide product decisions.
  • Partner day-to-day with engineering and design to scope, prioritise and ship.
  • Own product strategy and execution across multiple product surfaces simultaneously.
  • Balance consumer growth opportunities with B2B/schools priorities.
  • Establish roadmap, prioritisation and product operating processes from scratch.
  • Translate business objectives into clear product initiatives and measurable outcomes.
  • Represent product thinking directly to founders, engineers, designers and other stakeholders.
  • Help build a scalable product function while remaining highly hands-on with execution.

The product organisation currently uses tools including Linear, Figma, PostHog and Mixpanel, or equivalent modern product and analytics platforms.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)

  • 7+ years of professional Product Management experience, including experience operating at Staff-level scope.
  • Proven ownership of multiple products, product lines, surfaces or customer journeys simultaneously.
  • Strong consumer/B2C product experience.
  • Ability to operate effectively across both B2C and B2B contexts.
  • Strong quantitative and data-driven product decision-making.
  • Proven ownership of metrics such as engagement, retention, conversion and growth.
  • Ability to define and defend the metrics that matter, rather than simply reporting against predefined KPIs.
  • Experience working closely with engineering and design in small, highly autonomous teams.
  • Strong product sense combined with commercial judgement.
  • Experience defining roadmap structures, prioritisation frameworks and product processes from scratch.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving startup where priorities and responsibilities can evolve quickly.
  • Highly hands-on approach to product management: able to move from strategy to detailed execution.
  • Fluency with Linear, Figma, PostHog, Mixpanel, or comparable product and analytics tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal stakeholder communication.
  • English C1 or equivalent professional fluency is mandatory. English is the company's daily working language and the team operates internationally.
  • Based in Portugal, preferably Lisbon, or willing to relocate.
  • Ability and willingness to work regularly from the Lisbon office. Candidates should ideally attend 2–3 days per week.

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred)

  • Already based in Lisbon or surrounding areas.
  • Availability to work from the Lisbon office 2–3+ days per week.
  • Previous experience in an early-stage startup or high-growth scale-up.
  • Experience working directly with founders.
  • Experience joining a business where product prioritisation was still heavily founder-led.
  • Experience building or formalising a product function rather than joining an already mature organisation.
  • Experience with consumer subscription products, EdTech or AI-enabled platforms.
  • Experience scaling digital products internationally.
  • Strong exposure to experimentation, funnels, activation, retention and conversion optimisation.
  • Experience balancing consumer growth with B2B commercial priorities.
  • Strong startup mindset: high ownership, speed, pragmatism, autonomy and comfort with ambiguity.

Compensation: €3,000 – €4,000/month net, depending on experience and seniority level.
