Work you’ll do
The Senior Manager, Corporate Travel Operations is responsible for leading the organization's corporate Travel Desk, ensuring the delivery of high-quality travel advisory and operational support for intra and inter-country travels within Southeast Asia and international business travel beyond Southeast Asia. This role oversees external travel consultants, leads internal travel specialists, and manages day-to-day operational processes including providing expert guidance on complex itineraries; visa, vaccination, and security requirements; compliance to travel policies; and travel technology.
The successful candidate will possess advanced knowledge in Global Distribution Systems, airline distribution standards including emerging NDC channels and fare construction, and travel management platforms such as SAP Concur Travel and Concur Request. The role requires strong operational leadership, stakeholder management including VIP corporate travellers and frequent flyers with last-minute and complex travel needs, and continuous process improvement to deliver an efficient, compliant, and traveller-centric service.
Key Responsibilities
Travel Operations Leadership
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of internal travel and visa specialists and manage the corporate travel desk supporting business travellers based in Southeast Asia.
- Develop service standards, operating procedures, and performance metrics to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Oversee external travel consultants Travel Management Company to maximise operational excellence, reactivity, and customer satisfaction.
- Manage escalations including complex travel arrangements and time-sensitive traveller disruptions.
- Deliver internal travel-related training, when necessary.
Travel Advisory
- Provide expert travel consultation and advise travellers on optimal routing for complex, multi-country and multi-segment itineraries, leveraging multimodal transport options (incl. road and rail) and diverse fare structures to deliver efficient, cost-effective travel solutions.
- Proactively support emergency travel, last-minute itinerary changes, and travel disruptions.
Passport, Visa and Vaccination Requirements
- Provide travellers with guidance on applicable passport, border entry, and visa requirements and including vaccination requirements for international travel.
Travel Technology Management
- Manage and optimize SAP Concur Travel and Concur Request workflows, in collaboration with global technology services and coRe travel teams.
- Support implementation of new travel technologies and process enhancements, when necessary.
Supplier & Stakeholder Management
- Manage and exceed internal customer expectations by anticipating, monitoring, and resolving issues related to booking and fulfilment of corporate travel.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including HR, Procurement, Security, Finance, and Risk Management on travel operational matters.
- Monitor major travel suppliers including the external travel consultants’ performance against service-level agreements.
Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure adherence to corporate travel and security policies while balancing traveller needs and cost optimization.
- Maintain accurate documentation of travel processes and operational controls.
- Take ownership for traveller duty of care initiatives and business continuity planning.
- Prepare operational reports, service analytics and recommendations for leadership, where applicable.
Education Qualifications
- Degree in Travel & Tourism, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional travel qualifications such as IATA Travel Operations Diploma, GDS certification, or equivalent certifications are advantageous.
Professional Experience and Competency
Minimum 10–12 years of experience in corporate travel management, preferably with multinational corporations and/or Travel Management Companies (TMCs).
Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in managing corporate travel desk operations or a travel services team.
Hands-on experience with SAP Concur Travel and Concur Request, including travel request workflows, approvals, booking management, itinerary changes, cancellations, and reporting.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with excellent problem-solving ability. Ability to conduct oneself professionally and responsibly under time pressure when disruptions happen.
Demonstrated proactiveness at identifying and structuring improvement initiatives (in people, process/policy, or technology) to enhance the organization of corporate travel in the spirit of continuous improvement.
