Workplace location PARAMARIBO-ASSURIA HERMITAGE(SUR) Employer company TotalEnergies EP Suriname B.V. Domain Geoscience & Reservoir Type of contract Fixed term position Experience Less than 3 years

Context & Environment

The Geophysics discipline is integrated within the Geoscience team of the TotalEnergies Suriname affiliate.

Critical axes:

  • New affiliate with new fields to be developed
  • 2 Fields: 4 reservoirs
  • Very large development areas
  • Drilling a total of 32 wells split between 2 rigs

GranMorgu geoscience and reservoir activities are key to the successful execution of the greenfield GranMorgu project, a total investment of 11 BUSD, involving the development of two fields, Sapakara and Krabdagu, with four reservoirs over water depths ranging from 100 to 1400 meters. The development plan includes a total gas re-injection scheme, complemented by water injection using a WAG (Water Alternate Gas) injection scheme). Two drilling ships will be mobilized late in Q4 2026 to drill 32 subsea wells (16 OP, 13 WAG, 2 GI, 1 WI) with a total drilling expenditure of 3 BUSD, featuring complex lateral reservoir sections.

First Oil is anticipated between April and June 2028. The production facilities include a spread-moored, newly built FPSO, with an average oil treatment capacity of up to 220 kbopd and a gas treatment capacity of up to 500 MMscfd. The 2P+2C level of resources of around 900 Mbls assumes the full execution of the Reservoir Management Plan and its adaptation to development & production data. Innovative/new ideas will be required to realize development of contingent resources as tiebacks. Relationships with authorities, partners and stakeholders are key factors for the project success.

Activities

Comply with the Company’s and TEEP Suriname HSEQ principles.

Support the preparation, monitoring and delivery of the development wells, in close collaboration with subsurface, drilling and completions under the supervision of senior geoscientists:

  • Contribute to development wells preparation by supporting the definition of well objectives, seismic targets, reservoir quality prediction, net sand content and data acquisition strategy.
  • Participate in geo-steering activities by preparing and providing geophysical inputs to support well delivery and ensure well objectives are met.
  • Support the integration of drilled well data and contribute towards the update of the 2G&R synthesis based on upcoming well information.

Support key geophysical activities over Block 58:

  • Contribute to the construction and maintenance of the geophysics database, with the support of data managers.
  • Support the identification, preparation, and follow-up of geophysical studies relevant for each field.
  • Interact with relevant headquarter specialties in France, with guidance from senior geophysicist, on topics such as seismic processing, seismic inversion, petroelastic modelling, reservoir characterization and 4D monitoring.
  • Contribute to geophysical synthesis work and support the quality control and consistency of results.
  • Update static and dynamic synthesis while developing a good understanding of geophysical consistency.
  • Support the evaluation and quantification of volumes in place and associated uncertainties, with guidance from senior team members.

Candidate Profile

Degree Requested: M.Sc. in Geosciences, Geophysics or Geology

Professional Experience:

  • 0 to 3 years of experience in geophysics, preferably with exposure to seismic interpretation, reservoir geophysics or 2G&R synthesis.
  • Basic knowledge of seismic interpretation and reservoir characterization.

Technical Skills: good understanding of geoscience and reservoir geophysics fundamentals, with the ability to learn and apply subsurface software and company workflows used within TEP Suriname for geophysical interpretation and subsurface modelling.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong ability to work and communicate in a cross functional environment.
  • Organized and team player.
  • Excellent communication skills: oral & written. English mandatory, French or Dutch highly appreciated.

Additional Information

The geophysicist is a member of the GranMorgu geoscience and reservoir team. Reporting to the Principal Geophysicist, you will work closely with geologists, geophysicists, reservoir engineers and the wider subsurface team.
