Strategic Sourcing Buyer

The Strategic Sourcing Buyer is responsible for all product-related (direct procurement) strategic sourcing activities across Nova divisions in Low-Cost Regions. This includes supplier identification and qualification, sourcing strategy development, market intelligence and analysis, supplier selection, and commercial negotiations.

The Strategic Sourcing Buyer focuses on long-term procurement strategy and supplier relationship development and is not responsible for day-to-day transactional purchasing activities.

In addition, the Strategic Sourcing Buyer provides support for indirect procurement activities in the Asia-Pacific (AP) region, as required.

Role Responsibilities

  1. Develop and execute category and sourcing strategies for assigned commodities, including supplier scouting, supplier base mapping, benchmarking, and identification, assessment, audit, and qualification of new suppliers globally, with focus on low-cost regions in close partnership with Division and Global Supply Chain stakeholders.
  2. Identify, assess, audit, and qualify new suppliers globally, hand by hand with the division & Global Supply chain stakeholders.
  3. Manage RFx processes (RFI, RFQ, RFP), supplier evaluations, and sourcing recommendations, cost/ROI, quality, capacity, risk, technical requirements, and strategic fit to support award decisions.
  4. Partner with business units and functional stakeholders (Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Finance ) to understand current and future sourcing requirements, demand trends, technical needs, and supply market opportunities. support new programs, localization initiatives, and supplier selection decisions
  5. Conduct/part of commercial negotiations and establish sourcing agreements, securing optimal pricing, terms, and long-term value for the organization.
  6. Perform supply market research and risk assessments, identifying potential disruptions, geopolitical impacts, capacity constraints, and opportunities for supply diversification.
  7. Ensure an effective transition of awarded suppliers to procurement/buyer teams, including documentation of sourcing decisions, agreements, and handover requirements for ongoing supplier management
  8. Support “indirect” procurement activities in AP, with supplier selection, agreements, negotiations and be close partner of territories procurement functions in important procurement activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in multidisciplinary, strategic sourcing, procurement, or commodity management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience in supplier scouting, qualification, RFx management, and supplier selection.
  • Strong commercial negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Ability to develop sourcing strategies and perform cost, risk, and market analysis.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Finance, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Knowledge of global supply markets, including low-cost sourcing regions.
  • Strong analytical, communication, English, stakeholder management, and project management skills.
  • Experience with ERP and procurement systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel globally for supplier visits, audits, and negotiations.

Preferred: Experience with direct materials sourcing, localization projects, supplier audits, and supporting indirect procurement activities.
