ABOUT THE MARIN CENTER: As the major performing arts, events center, and fairgrounds in Marin County, Marin Center serves the community by presenting and expanding a variety of multi-cultural theater presentations, affordable rental venues, and professional expertise. Bringing art, music, dance, and performance of all kinds to audiences around the Bay, attendees also enjoy visiting the beautiful Marin Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium inspired by renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

Examples of duties

The Utility Leadworker Lead worker will serve as the lead over utility workers and partner with building maintenance staff. The incumbent will be responsible for providing training and instruction to staff, assisting the Events Operations Manager with scheduling and assignments, performing building security checks, and communicating with Cultural Services staff regarding supplies needed. Incumbents in this class act as the working lead to assigned utility workers and building maintenance staff.

You will work right alongside our utility and maintenance teams to help guide the day, share your know-how through hands-on training, and assist with daily schedules, room setups, and building security checks. As a key team connector, you will easily communicate with different departments to make sure everyone has the supplies and information they need, while bringing an upbeat and professional presence to coworkers, visitors, and staff every single day.

KNOWLEDGE OF

• Set-up techniques in large facilities in preparation for events such as meetings, conventions, cultural performances, exhibits, entertainment groups and related activities.
• Materials, chemicals, disinfectants used in building cleaning operations.
• Safety precautions and potential hazards associated with facility set up, cleaning and minor maintenance work.
• Equipment and supplies used to perform minor repairs.

ABILITY TO

• Train and assign work to staff.
• Understand charts, sketches, and plans for assignment and direction of crews to set up a variety of equipment according to specifications.
• Train, assign, inspect and evaluate completed work.
• Assist with minor building repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
• Communicate effectively.
• Use equipment and tools properly and safely.
• Handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing work assignments.
• Follow written and verbal instructions.
• Deal effectively and courteously with the public and co-workers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES
Equivalent to two years of full-time experience performing a variety of set-up and/or custodial work for a public facility such as events at a large cultural, convention or entertainment facility which provides the following knowledge and ability requirements.
