Hydrogen Mechanical Engineer

Your Mission

Turn engineering concepts into reliable hydrogen compressor systems that support the transition toward cleaner industrial and mobility solutions. As a Hydrogen Mechanical Engineer (m/f/d), you will design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, skids, support structures, and auxiliary systems for our HCP500 platform. You will connect process engineering, operations, and commissioning, ensuring that every design meets technical standards and is ready for efficient manufacturing, installation, and maintenance. With your expertise, you will help advance innovative hydrogen technology and shape scalable engineering solutions for the future.

How you will make a difference

• Design mechanical systems: You independently create detailed 3D designs of mechanical components and assemblies for our HCP500 hydrogen compressor systems using Autodesk Inventor.
• Develop plant structures: You design skids, steel support structures, and auxiliary systems such as ventilation ducts, taking technical requirements and production feasibility into account.
• Create technical documentation: You prepare and maintain fabrication drawings, general arrangement drawings, installation plans, bills of materials, component lists, and manufacturing documentation.
• Optimize plant layouts: You conduct clash detection and improve plant accessibility, maintainability, manufacturability, and ease of installation.
• Translate process requirements: You interpret P&IDs and convert process engineering concepts into practical mechanical designs.
• Collaborate across functions: You work closely with Engineering, Project Management, Procurement, Operations, Commissioning, and Service to deliver robust hydrogen compressor solutions.

What you should be good at

• Technical foundation: You have completed technical education at an HTL, university of applied sciences, university, or an equivalent institution in mechanical engineering, plant engineering, process engineering, or a comparable discipline.
• Professional experience: You bring at least five years of experience in mechanical design and industrial plant engineering.
• Engineering software: You have excellent knowledge of Autodesk Inventor and Vault and use both tools confidently for complex design projects.
• Mechanical design expertise: You have in-depth experience in developing plant layouts, steel structures, mechanical assemblies, and fabrication drawings.
• Process understanding: You can read and implement P&IDs and understand key process engineering principles. Experience with hydrogen plants, gas compressor systems, oil and gas, or process plants is an advantage.
• Professional approach: You work independently, systematically, and with a strong focus on solutions. You communicate confidently in written and spoken English. Experience with piping and the Autodesk Inventor Pipe and Tubing tool is a strong advantage.

• Fair Compensation: A gross annual salary based on wage structure agreements starting at € 63,000. - adjusted according to individual qualifications and experience.
