Job Description

  • Own the Mukto Pay business intelligence and data function: the data platform, the reporting layer, the metric definitions, and the analytics the business runs on.
  • Establish a single agreed definition for every commercial metric — activated customer, active customer, transaction, yield, CAC, contribution margin, churn — with Finance and the Product Owners, and publish it. One definition, one owner, one number.
  • Build and run the reporting layer: daily transaction and channel dashboards, the activation funnel, agent and merchant performance, product P&L views, and the actual-versus-plan pack for every Post-Launch Commercial Review and Quarterly Review.
  • Act as the named counterpart to Banglalink Business Intelligence, under the interface rules in the Delivery Methodology. Align on architecture, data model, tooling and standards, and reuse the group’s platform, licences and capability wherever reuse is permitted rather than building a parallel stack.
  • Own the position on what may and may not cross the Banglalink – Mukto Pay data boundary: residency, consent basis and licence conditions, documented and agreed with Compliance and Legal. Reuse is a cost decision; the boundary is not.
  • Build the pipelines and data models from the core payment platform, the wallet ledger, CRM, campaign and agent systems into a warehouse that reconciles to Finance.
  • Produce Bangladesh Bank and other regulatory reporting from a single reconciled source, with Finance and Compliance — not from a separately maintained spreadsheet.
  • Deliver analytics that change decisions: cohort and retention analysis, CAC and efficiency by channel, agent productivity, merchant acceptance depth, and fraud and abuse pattern detection with Risk.
  • Enable self-service, so that Product Owners, Marketing and Distribution answer their own routine questions rather than queueing at BI.
  • Set and enforce data governance: lineage, access control, privacy, retention, and a documented and maintained data catalogue.
  • Support Risk and credit analytics as the lending proposition of the digital bank develops.
  • Build and lead a small BI team, and manage the platform and vendor relationships behind it.

Academic Qualification

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, economics, finance or a related quantitative discipline.

Job Experience Required

  • At least 8 years in business intelligence, data engineering or analytics, including 3 or more leading a team or a function.
  • Has built a reporting and analytics capability from a low base — not only maintained a mature one.
  • Telecom, banking, MFS, payments or fintech background. Experience at telecom data volumes is an advantage.
  • Hands-on with SQL and a modern data warehouse, ETL/ELT pipelines, and an enterprise BI tool (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik or similar).
  • Experience working across a group-and-subsidiary data boundary, or under regulated data-sharing constraints, is a strong advantage.
  • Experience supporting regulatory reporting in a licensed financial institution is preferred.

Required Capabilities

  • Makes definitions stick. The hard part of this role is not the pipeline — it is getting everyone to agree what an active customer is, and then keeping them from quietly redefining it.
  • Reconciles to Finance, or does not ship the number.
  • Fluent in SQL and comfortable in the warehouse, not only in the dashboard.
  • Can decline a report request and offer the decision-useful alternative instead.
  • Reads the regulation well enough to know which data cannot move, and raises it before it moves rather than after.
  • Works with a group BI function as a peer — extracts genuine cooperation from Banglalink rather than filing tickets and waiting.
  • Explains an analysis to a commercial audience without walking them through the model.
  • Direct about data quality, including when the honest answer is that a number is not yet trustworthy.
