YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing all mine engineering functions at Upper Beaver, ensuring safe, efficient, and optimized operations. This role integrates strategic planning, infrastructure evaluation, budgeting, and continuous improvement initiatives to support both short-term and long-term production goals. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment. With the project moving from a development to operation phase the candidate will help hire and establish the engineering department. The key responsibilities include;

Leadership & Team Development

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop mine engineering personnel;

  • Implement organizational changes within the engineering team to support business success;

  • Set milestones and ensure timely achievement of objectives;

  • Foster collaboration across departments including Mine Operations, Maintenance, and Exploration.

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Develop, optimize, and implement approved mine plans to achieve tonnage and ounce targets;

  • Lead the development of Annual Life of Mine (LOM) plans and scenario assessments;

  • Facilitate weekly planning meetings to coordinate cross-functional activities;

  • Develop and execute Upper Beavers Annual Strategy and Technical Services strategy.

Infrastructure & Systems Oversight

  • Evaluate underground infrastructure capacity to support mid- to long-term production goals (e.g., compressed air, electrical, communications, dewatering);

  • Implement systems, processes, and procedures focused on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

Budgeting & Reporting

  • Lead the development of annual mine site budgets, monthly/quarterly forecasts, and reporting;

  • Conduct cost analysis by comparing actual metrics to forecasts and budgets, identifying trends and discrepancies;

  • Oversee and sign off on month-end engineering reports.

Technical Excellence

  • Provide technical leadership and operational expertise to engineering and operations teams;

  • Monitor compliance with engineering codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards;

  • Recommend optimized ore extraction methods, stope access, and mining sequences;

  • Lead annual mine reserves calculation.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng);

  • 10 years of underground mine engineering experience, with 3-4 years in a leadership role;

  • Strong background in longhole mining and cut and fill (optional but preferred);

  • Proven experience managing technical teams and projects;

  • Proficiency in Deswik, and Microsoft Office Suite;

  • Exposure to data analysis and Power Bi.;

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills;

  • Ability to coach and mentor engineering teams and resolve complex technical issues.

  • Schedule: 4/3 schedule at our Upper Beaver Project, Dobie , ON.

No compensation statement is disclosed as the position exceeds $200,000.
