Summary
The Sports Information Specialist supports the promotion, communication, and documentation of Wallace State athletics and its student-athletes. This position assists with athletics communications, game-day coverage, statistics, website and social media content, photography and other media needs, and promotion of athletic programs and accomplishments.
Examples of duties
Provide game-day sports information and communications support for Wallace State athletic events.
Compile, maintain, and report accurate team rosters, schedules, statistics, scores, records, and other athletic information.
Update athletics website content, schedules, results, statistics, and related information.
Develop and post timely content for athletics social media channels, including scores, highlights, student-athlete achievements, and upcoming events.
Assist with photography, video, graphics, and other digital content for athletic communications and promotions.
Prepare or assist with news releases, game recaps, feature stories, and other athletics-related communications.
Coordinate with coaches and athletic staff to gather information and promote teams and student-athletes.
Assist with nominations, awards, postseason reporting, and information requested by conference and national athletic organizations.
Coordinate student media team to assist with athletics promotion and game day coverage.
Support livestreams, media relations, special events, and other athletics communications and activities as needed.
Maintain consistent use of Wallace State branding and represent the College professionally in all communications.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, required, or directed by the College. The College reserves the right to assign additional tasks and to alter or reassign job duties as necessary to meet business and operational needs.
In order to perform these essential functions, the employee must be present at work. Therefore, attendance is an essential function.
Qualifications
- Strong writing, communication, organizational, and digital media skills are preferred.
- Experience in athletics, sports information, communications, journalism, marketing, photography, social media, or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to work nonstandard hours, including evenings and occasional overnight travel, as needed, is required.
