Anglophone East is currently recruiting for Casual School Bus Drivers.

* Previous school bus driving experience is not necessary.

Description:

This is a responsible position in the operation of a heavy motor vehicle to safely transport students to and from schools and activities. The position includes: the safe, efficient operation of a school bus; some knowledge of the mechanical operation of a bus and the responsibility for maintaining a mechanically sound vehicle.

The names of successful applicants (once trained) will be placed on a replacement driver list and may be called to work on an as-required basis.

School bus drivers typically work a few hours in the morning and a few hours in the afternoon. Drivers do not work, on weekends, statutory holidays, during summer break, Christmas break, March break, and snow days. *However, extra hours may be available if desired (*school field trips, After-school events, weekend sport tournaments, etc.).

Qualifications:

Qualifications will include a High School Diploma, driver’s license with a clear driving record, a good medical record with no heart conditions, a strong orientation towards safety and good interpersonal and communication skills. Selected candidates will be required to complete a weeklong District training course to be held 2-6 November 2026 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm daily.

To operate a school bus, you will require a class 2BE driver's license. If you do not currently have a class 2BE license, we provide all required training help you obtain one. The process involves:

Complete a 5-day training course (November 2026), Obtain a clean criminal check, vulnerable sector check, a drivers abstract. a vision test, a written test, and a road test. Once a 2BE license is obtained, we provide paid behind the wheel training, and reimbursement for most licensing costs.

Employment with Anglophone East offers:

  • 4-hour minimum call in.
  • Paid sick day accrual (1.5 days per month once you become full time).
  • 4% Vacation pay paid on every pay deposit (bi-weekly)

  • Typically, the same model of bus (automatic transmission).
  • Potential to park bus at your home, or a nearby depot.
  • An average day consists of a morning shift, and an afternoon shift.
  • Paid "snow days" (provided you were previously scheduled to work).
  • Casual bus drivers can pick and choose work assignments.

Job Types: Casual, (potential to become Permanent)

Salary: $27.10 per hour, 6 hours per day
