About the Role

Reporting to the Sales & Operations Manager, the Supervisor will help lead the Young General Store by supporting team members, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring our merchandising, inventory, and customer service standards are consistently met. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll work alongside the team to deliver a great experience for our members every day.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Support the day-to-day operation of the Young General Store, ensuring our members receive the friendly, hometown service Riverbend Co-op is known for.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to team members, including scheduling, onboarding, training, performance support, and daily task delegation.
  • Assist with ordering, inventory control, merchandising, and flyer execution to ensure shelves remain stocked, accurate, and visually appealing.
  • Complete daily operational and administrative tasks, including cash reconciliations, paperwork, Kronos approval support, and adherence to established store procedures.
  • Monitor inventory levels, manage product rotation, and minimize shrink through strong receiving, handling, and merchandising practices.
  • Support pricing, promotions, and seasonal merchandising initiatives while ensuring department standards are maintained.
  • Address member and customer concerns in a timely and professional manner while building positive relationships within the community.
  • Ensure compliance with Riverbend Co-op policies, food safety standards, health and safety requirements, asset protection practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular store walks, identify opportunities for improvement, and take action to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient operation.
  • Work closely with the Sales & Operations Manager to achieve sales, service, operational, and safety goals while supporting the overall success of the Young location.
  • Operate equipment as required, including the forklift and, where applicable, the telehandler, with proper training provided.

What You Will Need

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Previous retail, grocery, or customer service experience.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience is an asset.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional service to our members and customers.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience with merchandising, inventory control, ordering, and retail operations.
  • The ability to lead by example, coach others, and create a positive team environment.
  • Comfort working with store systems, operational procedures, and administrative tasks.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • Willingness and ability to operate equipment as required, including the forklift and, where applicable, the telehandler, with proper training provided.
