Finance Superintendent – ARK Expansion Project

Position Description

Kibali Gold Mine seeks to recruit a Finance Superintendent for the ARK Expansion Project (Feasibility Study).

The Finance Superintendent will lead the financial management, capital cost control, forecasting and reporting of the ARK Project during the feasibility study phase. The role is responsible for ensuring robust governance over capital expenditure, providing accurate financial insight to support project decisions, and ensuring alignment between the feasibility study budget, project schedule, procurement plans, cash flow forecasts and life-of-mine/business planning assumptions.

You will be expected to align to the Barrick DNA and to operate within our mining assets with our best people teams. You will contribute in a safe and cost-effective manner to achieve targets in accordance with Mine Safety Standards, Policies and Procedures and ensure daily targets are met.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the capital finance, budgeting, cost control and reporting processes for the ARK Project Feasibility Study.
  • Establish, maintain and continuously improve the feasibility study cost control framework, including cost coding, commitments, accruals, forecasting, variance analysis and reporting requirements.
  • Support the development, validation and governance of capital cost estimates, ensuring that financial assumptions are accurate, complete and aligned to project scope, schedule and procurement strategy.
  • Monitor actual and forecast capital expenditure against approved budgets, commitments and contingency, and provide early visibility of cost risks, trends and opportunities.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc capital cost, cash flow, forecast-at-completion and management reports for the feasibility study project.
  • Review reporting deliverables for accuracy, completeness and consistency prior to final sign-off by project and finance leadership.
  • Provide financial input into stage-gate submissions, investment approval documentation, AME reporting packs, project steering committee materials and other governance deliverables.
  • Support updates to the mine business plan, life-of-mine assumptions and project economic inputs, ensuring alignment between feasibility study financials and operational planning requirements.
  • Work closely with Project Controls, Engineering, Procurement, Commercial, Finance/Admin, AME Executives and Project Managers to ensure integrated cost, schedule and procurement reporting.
  • Analyse cost reports and performance data to identify variances, cost pressures, risks and corrective actions required to maintain financial control over the project.
  • Support cash flow management, funding forecasts and capital phasing requirements for the feasibility study and associated project activities.
  • Identify and promote cost optimisation opportunities, including procurement efficiencies, shared infrastructure, support services and other value improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare or contribute to executive updates, ministerial letters, media briefing inputs and other ad-hoc project reports as required.

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting qualification or registration such as CA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent is preferred.
  • Additional training or certification in project finance, cost control, project controls or capital project governance will be advantageous.

Experience and Skills Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience, with at least 5 years in mining, capital projects, project finance, project controls or a senior commercial/accounting role.
  • Demonstrated experience in capital budgeting, cost forecasting, commitment tracking, accruals, variance analysis and financial reporting for large-scale projects.
  • Experience supporting feasibility studies, project development studies, major sustaining capital projects or mine expansion projects will be highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of capital governance, investment approval processes, business planning, life-of-mine planning and financial controls in a mining environment.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling capability, with experience using ERP, budgeting, reporting or project cost management systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical, commercial, project controls and procurement information and translate this into clear financial insights for decision-making.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with site, regional, finance, engineering, procurement and project leadership teams.
  • High level of analytical judgement, commercial acumen, attention to detail, integrity and ability to operate in a dynamic site-based project environment.
