Professor of Macroeconomics (Tenured/Senior Appointment)

IE University’s School of Politics, Economics & Global Affairs (IE-SPEGA) invites applications for a senior appointment in Macroeconomics beginning September 2026.

IE-SPEGA is investing strategically in the rapid development of a research-intensive Economics Department, with the ambition of becoming a leading European hub for economic scholarship.

We seek an internationally recognized scholar with a sustained record of publications in top-tier journals and a clear trajectory of high-impact research in macroeconomics (including monetary economics, international macroeconomics, macro-finance, business cycles, or growth).

In evaluating candidates, particular attention will be given to the scholarly impact and visibility of their research, including the quality and consistency of publications in leading journals, citation influence, engagement with the academic community through editorial roles, and evidence of active research momentum, alongside a demonstrated capacity to contribute meaningfully to the department’s development over the medium to long term.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the department’s intellectual direction and strengthening its global research profile. We welcome candidates whose work combines theoretical depth, empirical rigor, and relevance to major global economic challenges.
