Power Engineer

Appolonia City, a development by Rendeavour, is seeking to hire a Power Engineer. Reporting to the Head of Utilities, the Power Engineer will administer electrical distribution network rollouts, ensure technical compliance, lead policy formulation, and oversee the design and implementation of power infrastructure projects. This role requires a highly experienced professional with expertise in utility infrastructure, protection systems, and renewable energy integration.

Key Responsibilities

• Network supervision: Supervise installation of low, medium, and high voltage networks and associated equipment.
• Infrastructure design: Develop electrical systems including substations, transmission/distribution lines, and renewable energy plants.
• Engineering documentation: Prepare engineering drawings, cost estimates, and issue work permits to contractors.
• Procurement support: Supervise expenditures, prepare tender documents, and evaluate submissions.
• Protection & control: Prepare specifications for plant protection, automation, SCADA, telecom networks, and metering.
• Data analysis: Review financial, technical, and billing data; support credit collection efforts.
• Operations: Manage industrial high voltage systems and design SCADA diagrams for monitoring.
• Compliance: Ensure systems meet legislation, policies, and operational requirements.
• Construction support: Collaborate with development teams and resolve technical site issues.

Requirements

Skills and Experience

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in design, construction, testing, commissioning, and operation of utility infrastructure (generation, transmission, distribution).
• Expertise in low, medium, and high voltage systems.
• Strong background in protection relay coordination, programming, and power system studies.
• Proven experience in substation testing, commissioning, and maintenance (primary and secondary injection tests).
• Skilled in tender preparation and evaluation.
• Ability to identify faults and propose remedial measures.
• Authorized to operate medium and high voltage equipment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and engineering design software.
