About the Role

As a member of the Life & Health based in Hong Kong, your role will be to build and maintain client relationships as well as to provide first class underwriting related services to Swiss Re’s Life & Health clients in Hong Kong and Taiwan. You will be required to work as a member of a high performance team and to demonstrate and develop adequate technical and interpersonal skills, so you can strongly contribute to achieving Swiss Re's strategic and commercial objectives.

Major responsibilities

  • Delivers underwriting services to clients
  • Develops and implements company’s underwriting policy and principles and ensures risks assumed on a sound and profitable basis
  • Participates in departmental or companywide activities and projects with regard to underwriting and related fields
  • Develops and conducts underwriting training programs for clients
  • Adopts a partnering approach when carrying out underwriting and audits with clients
  • Builds strong relationships with key clients
  • Provides input to reinsurance tenders and product development in a cross-functional team environment

About the Team

The Underwriting and Claims team is part of Life & Health Reinsurance Market Unit Hong Kong & Taiwan. The team is responsible for delivering disciplined, high-quality risk selection for HNW business while supporting sound management of the in-force portfolio. Working closely with cross-functional partners across L&H, the team applies deep underwriting expertise and portfolio insights to support strong new business margins, sustainable client solutions, and informed portfolio decisions — all while championing operational excellence, risk governance, and continuous improvement across the HNW underwriting value chain.

About You

  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant Life & Health insurance or reinsurance underwriting experience, preferably with regional/international exposure
  • University Degree or similar qualification
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Broad range of product experience with authorities reflecting this
  • Good team player and self-starter; able to interact with people at various levels
  • Excellent command of English, Cantonese and ideally Mandarin
