Internship - Junior Maintenance Engineer

RINA is currently recruiting for a Internship - Junior Maintenance Engineer to join its office in Rome or Rozzano within the Operations and Maintenance Engineering Division.​

Mission

The Maintenance Engineering Trainee supports the Maintenance Engineering team in a structured learning and development programme aimed at building technical competencies in asset management, maintenance engineering, and engineering consulting practices. Under the guidance and mentorship of experienced engineers, the trainee is exposed to the fundamental principles of maintenance management, asset registers development, CMMS implementation, maintenance strategy development, and technical documentation management. The role provides opportunities to gain hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and software. The trainee actively participates in project activities, training sessions, and technical workshops, contributing to selected tasks while developing an understanding of engineering processes, maintenance methodologies, and project execution requirements. Through collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, the trainee gains practical knowledge of engineering standards, data management practices, and maintenance best practices applied across industrial sectors. The overall objective of the internship is to develop the trainee's technical, analytical, and professional skills, preparing them for future roles in maintenance engineering, asset management, and engineering consulting environments.

Key Accountabilities

Project Technical Documentation Support:

• Assist in the organization and management of project technical documentation;
• review and verify technical documentation for accuracy and completeness;
• collaborate with senior engineers to ensure adherence to project requirements and standards.

Asset Register Development Assistance:

• Support senior engineers in developing and maintaining asset registers for client projects;
• assist in capturing and recording asset information accurately in asset registers;
• update asset registers under the guidance of senior engineers to reflect changes and additions.

CMMS Templates Implementation Support:

• Participate in the implementation of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) templates;
• assist in customizing CMMS templates based on project needs and client requirements;
• support the effective utilization of CMMS templates for maintenance management activities.

Maintenance Plan and Workload Planning Assistance:

• Contribute to the development of maintenance plans under the guidance of senior engineers;
• assist in workload planning activities to optimize maintenance activities and resources;
• collaborate with senior engineers to ensure alignment of maintenance plans with project objectives.

Utilization of Mechanical Handling Software and MS Office:

• Gain proficiency in mechanical handling software (Autocad, Navisworks, SmartPlant) through training and hands-on experience;
• utilize MS Office applications to support documentation, data analysis, and reporting tasks;
• seek guidance from senior engineers to effectively use software tools for project-related activities.

Task Support and Learning:

• Provide support to senior engineers in executing assigned tasks related to asset maintenance projects;
• learn and assist in various engineering activities including design, analysis, documentation, and reporting;
• seek opportunities for professional development and growth under the mentorship of senior engineers.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering

Compensation Data

The internship is designed as a training and orientation experience and, as such, provides a monthly allowance in accordance with applicable regional regulations and Company policies.
