Business English Coach, Executive Learners

The Role

IMMERSE is a language learning company that helps adults build real-world fluency through live instruction and immersive technology.

We are hiring experienced instructors to deliver 1:1 business English coaching to senior professionals at a global enterprise client. Learners are working executives based in Japan. They are advanced speakers who need their English to hold up under pressure in the situations their roles actually demand: running meetings, presenting to leadership, negotiating, and communicating with US-based counterparts across cultures.

Sessions are 50 minutes, one to one, delivered over Zoom. You work with a small ongoing caseload rather than a rotating queue, so you build a real relationship with each learner over time and see their progress.

You will work from an IMMERSE content library developed around the client organization's leadership framework and the communication demands of their roles. For each learner you select and sequence from that library based on their role and goals, and you create additional material where their needs go beyond it. This is not scripted delivery, and it is not building a program from nothing. Expect to spend real time shaping each learner's path and adjusting it as they go.

The role suits an instructor who works well independently with advanced learners, who can read what a senior professional actually needs and adjust in the moment, and who writes feedback a busy executive will act on.

Compensation

This role pays $45 to $70 per session, based on coaching experience and credentials. The session rate covers the 50-minute session, pre-session review of the learner's history and goals, personalization of the session plan within our framework, and written post-session feedback. Onboarding and calibration are paid separately at $20 per hour. If a learner cancels with less than 8 hours notice or does not attend, you are paid 100% of the session rate. Coaches invoice monthly and are paid within 30 days in USD. This is an independent contractor engagement. You are responsible for your own taxes and for holding valid freelance status in your country of residence.

Schedule Availability

Learners are based in Japan and book during JST business hours. Coaches set their own availability within that window. We are currently prioritizing coaches who anticipate consistent availability for multiple sessions per week during JST business hours. Session volume will vary based on learner demand and coach availability.

What You’ll Do

• Deliver 1:1 business English coaching sessions with executive learners over Zoom
• Select and sequence content from our library for each learner, and build supplementary material where their goals require it
• Work through real professional scenarios relevant to their role, such as meetings, negotiations, presentations, and cross-cultural communication
• Coach pronunciation, grammar, fluency, and professional writing
• Write post-session feedback each learner can act on
• Track progress and adjust each learner's path accordingly
• Communicate proactively with the instructional team

Required Qualifications

• Four or more years providing 1:1 business or executive English coaching to working professionals, including building individualized programs for corporate or executive clients
• Master's degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Education, or Business Communication, or equivalent depth of professional experience. We will seriously consider candidates without a master's who meet the experience bar above
• Strong command of English pronunciation and of professional writing conventions in business contexts, including experience with formal pronunciation assessment
• Learners are preparing for communication with US-based counterparts, so this role requires the ability to model General American English pronunciation and idiomatic business usage
• Available to offer regular session times within JST business hours
• Comfortable using Zoom and learning new platforms
• Organized, reliable, and professional

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with Japanese professional learners
• Prior experience working in a corporate environment
• Comfort using AI tools for lesson development and personalization
