Plan resources, personnel, and materials for various work centers within production cells to ensure the timely delivery of customer orders.

  1. Detailed Planning

  • Translate the master build plan into an optimal schedule for available resources (production activities, machine capacity, personnel, materials, and equipment).
  • Break down production orders across work centers by analyzing:
    • Required work activities
    • Number of machines needed
    • Personnel requirements
    • Material and component requirements.
  1. Progress Monitoring

  • Convert the master plan into production and assembly schedules for each work center, taking into account delivery dates and the availability of machines, personnel, and materials.
  • Identify problems and shortages within the Cell Support Team, supplying departments, and other departments, and propose solutions.
  • Inform the Master Planning department and, after consultation with the Cell Support Team, communicate possible solutions (e.g., partial deliveries or delayed delivery).
  • Integrate backorders and rush orders into the production schedule using the ERP system.
  • Issue shop orders to the Cell Captains.
  • Monitor work progress, identify bottlenecks, communicate findings to relevant departments, and recommend schedule adjustments.
  • Participate in improvement project teams focused on cost reduction, quality improvement, and information management.
  • Determine when work should be outsourced in the event of work center overload, based on ERP system information.
  1. Information Management

  • Monitor expected delivery dates.
  • Generate BDS reports to identify shortages and work with relevant departments to resolve them.
  • Determine and communicate production priorities using the ERP system, including priority setting within the production cell.
  • Verify material availability and issue required documentation.
  • Process planning data in the ERP system.
  • Check, sort, and distribute required documents.
  • Record machine hours, labor hours, and materials/components used.
  1. Expediting

  • Discuss supplier information related to shortage lists with relevant departments.
  • Report recurring supplier delivery delays to the Cell Manager and/or Buyers.
  • Ensure purchased materials are available on time.

Job Characteristics

Communication

  • Discuss shortages, excess capacity, and possible solutions with the Cell Support Team.
  • Discuss planning and assembly issues with the Cell Support Team and, for more complex issues, with the Operations Manager.
  • Coordinate problems and solutions with supplying and receiving departments.
  • Communicate material requirements.
  • Inform the Sales department about delivery delays and possible solutions.
  • Exchange system (coding) information with the System Administrator.
  • Discuss priorities, disruptions, and work instructions primarily with the Cell Support Team and, when necessary, with the Operations Manager.

Authority

  • Modify production schedules in consultation with the Cell Manager and Support Team.
  • Issue shop orders and job queues to the Cell Support Team.
  • Propose solutions to operational bottlenecks.
  • Act as the Cell Manager during absences, including:
    • Supervising the Cell Support Team
    • Managing absence registration
    • Approving leave
    • Assigning work.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for achieving on-time delivery through:
  • Efficient planning of personnel, equipment, and materials.
  • Adjusting schedules when disruptions occur.
  • Identifying problems and proposing solutions.
  • Providing information and instructions to Cell Captains.
  • Accurate data processing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: MBO+ level (vocational college or equivalent work and thinking level)
  • Preferred field of study: Logistics
  • Experience in production planning within a dynamic environment is an advantage.
  • Additional requirements:
    • Knowledge of ERP systems
    • Experience with QRM (Quick Response Manufacturing) is an advantage
    • Good command of both Dutch and English, spoken and written.
