Hydro Energy develops and produces renewable energy and works systematically to strengthen sustainability across operations and projects. The sustainability team supports the business in understanding and reducing impacts on climate, nature and society. Geographic information systems are increasingly important for combining environmental data, analysing impacts and supporting sound, knowledge-based decisions.

You will obtain valuable experience, and you get to tackle relevant tasks and real challenges, with support from experienced colleagues. You will also get to participate in a joint program with all the Hydro summer interns, allowing you to learn more about our business and acquire interdisciplinary knowledge. All the while, we expect and want you to have a fun experience during the summer.
What you will be doing
- Use GIS tools to map and analyse Hydro Energy’s environmental and social footprint.
- Map potential impacts on natural values and identify opportunities to avoid, reduce or mitigate adverse impacts.
- Explore restoration opportunities around existing facilities and new projects.
- Compile national map layers and environmental data to provide strategic insight and support further development of Hydro Energy’s GIS-based sustainability work.
What will make you successful?
- Master’s degree in geography, natural resource management, biology, geomatics, environmental engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in both Norwegian and English, written and spoken.
- Extracurricular activities and volunteer work will be considered advantageous.
- Experience with GIS tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS or similar is an advantage.
- You work independently, take initiative and collaborate well in interdisciplinary teams.
