About the role
As a Software Engineer at NOV, you will work on the development of advanced machine control systems for cranes and lifting equipment. You will work with products developed and delivered by NOV’s professional environment in Kristiansand and used in some of the world’s most demanding offshore and subsea operations.
You will be involved throughout the entire lifecycle of the solutions—from design and development to testing, commissioning and further development. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with multidisciplinary teams within automation, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering, contributing to innovative, safe and reliable solutions for the energy industry of the future.

• Develop, implement and design PLC-based machine control systems
• Further develop existing automation and digitalisation solutions
• Troubleshoot, test and commission machine control systems
• Collaborate across disciplines to optimise technical solutions
• Provide support and maintenance for existing systems

Qualifications and skills
• Higher technical education, preferably a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation, Computer Science, Electronics or Mechatronics
• Experience with automation systems and PLC-based HMI solutions
• Knowledge of machine control and industrial automation is an advantage
• Good understanding of industrial communication protocols is desirable, but not required
