Mechanical Engineer

At Bulk, our mission is to build sustainable infrastructure that supports the digital society of tomorrow. As one of the leading providers of sustainable, high-performance data center solutions in the Nordics, we design and operate infrastructure that powers artificial intelligence and the digital society, efficiently, securely, and with 100% renewable energy. We are now looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer to support our growing data center portfolio.

The Mechanical Engineer serves as the subject matter expert for the operation, reliability, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems across our data center portfolio. Working closely with Site Operations teams, the Mechanical Engineer is responsible for ensuring that cooling, HVAC, and other critical mechanical infrastructure operates safely, efficiently, and in accordance with operational standards.

The role requires close collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders, including Site Operations, Engineering, Projects, Commissioning, and Design teams. The Mechanical Engineer provides technical guidance to support commissioning activities, contributes operational expertise during design reviews, and helps drive performance improvements across existing facilities.

As a key member of the engineering organization, the Mechanical Engineer plays a critical role in maximizing site availability, enhancing system reliability, improving energy efficiency, and optimizing the performance of mechanical infrastructure throughout its lifecycle.

What you'll do:
As our Mechanical Engineer, your key responsibilities will be:

  • Initiate and lead engineering site inspections, audits, and health checks to ensure systems meet design intent and risk requirements.

  • Develop and maintain mechanical engineering standards, maintenance strategies, operating procedures and risk controls for data centers.

  • Directly support operational issues with ad-hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, including critical equipment, and event support.

  • Support capacity reviews and technical assessments for customer deployments, including high density and liquid cooled workloads.

  • Contribute to engineering reviews and provide input on new builds and site modifications.

  • Help maintain asset documentation, maintenance plans, and lifecycle records.

  • Assist site operations during mechanical incidents, supporting investigations and root cause analysis.

  • Monitor system performance and reliability using telemetry (BMS/EMS/CMMS) and flag anomalies.

  • Contribute to energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives, including PUE, WUE, and heat reuse.

Who are you?
You are a mechanical engineer with a genuine interest in mission critical cooling systems, eager to grow your expertise in a fast-moving data center environment. You enjoy hands on work, learning from experienced colleagues, and taking ownership of your tasks.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.

  • 5 + years' experience with mechanical or cooling systems, ideally from data centers.

  • In-depth understanding of cooling architectures such as Chillers, CRAH/CRAC, AHUs, and economization; interest in liquid cooling is a plus.

  • Experience with commissioning, performance testing, and reliability engineering practices.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with cross functional teams.

Why join us?

  • A chance to build real expertise in a growing central engineering function.

  • Work at the intersection of operations, design, and future focused infrastructure.

  • Mentorship and development from senior engineers in the team.

What we offer our Bulkies:

  • A dynamic, growth-oriented workplace with a strong sustainability focus.

  • Comprehensive insurance and annual health check.

  • Additional time off during Easter and Christmas.

  • Monthly contribution to home internet costs and sustainable commuting.

  • Annual wellness allowance to support an active lifestyle.

  • Fully paid parental leave.

Take the next step in your career and join us as we build the future of digital infrastructure in Norway and beyond!
