He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the Role

We're looking for a practical, people-focused Project Engineer to join our Signalling, Telecommunications, Traction and Electrical (STTE) team in the Lower North Island. You'll help deliver critical rail infrastructure projects while working closely with field teams, contractors and stakeholders to achieve safe and successful outcomes.

  • Deliver rail infrastructure projects safely from scoping and planning through to completion
  • Support multiple projects concurrently, typically 2-3 at a time
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide practical support to field teams and contractors while working alongside engineering specialists where required
  • Contribute to project forecasting, scheduling and future work planning
  • Enjoy a varied role with a mix of office-based planning and on-site engagement

We're looking for someone who knows how to get things done while working collaboratively with others. You may come from rail, utilities, construction, transport or another project delivery environment. You will also have:

  • Experience delivering projects in a practical, operational environment
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent planning, coordination and problem-solving abilities
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and keep projects moving
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and project reporting tools
  • Relevant engineering, trade or project management qualifications are advantageous, but we're equally interested in practical experience and the right attitude
