Mechanical Design Engineer - Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS)

We are currently expanding our R&D team and are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in standard components and materials.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for creating and maintaining our standard components and materials library within the R&D Engineering department. This will include all development phases, from conceptual design to end of production, and will require close collaboration with all parts of the organization, including but not limited to Prototype, Testing, Procurement, Production, Quality, CAE, and Homologation.

You will:

  • Create and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using CATIA V6 / 3DEXPERIENCE for the catalogue of standard parts (commercial off-the-shelf products).

  • Maintain the internal table for fastener tightening torques and standards.

  • Create and maintain the materials and surface treatments library using CATIA V6 / 3DEXPERIENCE.

  • Support the Low Voltage Electronics department in releasing engineering data, such as PCB/FPC and Bootloader data, using CATIA V6 / 3DEXPERIENCE.

  • Create Koenigsegg Technical Standard (KTS) documents, engineering instructions, specification drawings for families of parts, etc.

  • Facilitate tests to verify component functionality and ensure that requirements are met when needed.

  • Apply data-driven analysis to identify root causes, enhance product reliability, and optimize performance.

  • Assist in selecting and interacting with suppliers and technology providers to ensure quality and performance targets are met.

  • Provide technical support to ensure the successful introduction of off-the-shelf components and systems into and throughout production.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in engineering design within the automotive, aerospace, or similar industries.

  • Proven understanding of part and assembly design, DFM, and component durability.

  • 3+ years of CAD experience, preferably with CATIA V5/V6 or 3DEXPERIENCE.

  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI Essentials and proficiency in Word and Excel.

  • Professional-level English, both written and spoken.

Meritorious experience:

  • Work experience in the top-tier automotive or motorsport industry.
  • Experience with standard parts (commercial off-the-shelf products), especially fasteners used in the automotive industry.
  • Practical, hands-on experience working with cars, racing, or similar activities, either professionally or as a hobby.
  • Knowledge of material science, including material selection, heat treatment, and surface treatments.
  • Experience in composite design and manufacturing.
  • Understanding of automotive regulations and homologation requirements.
  • Experience with supplier management and technical partnerships.
