Clinical Informatics Manager

About the Role

The Clinical Informatics Manager leads the development, implementation, optimization, and support of clinical information systems to improve workflow efficiency, patient care documentation, and access to clinical data. This role collaborates closely with clinicians and staff to evaluate operational needs, coordinate system enhancements, manage clinical technology projects. Responsibilities include overseeing system changes and upgrades, ensuring successful training and adoption of new technologies, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance clinical operations and user experience.

As the Clinical Informatics Manager, you drive successful development, implementation, and optimization of clinical information systems that improve workflow efficiency, and enhance access to critical patient information. You collaborate with clinicians and staff to lead system improvements, manage clinical technology projects, and ensure smooth adoption of new processes through effective training and support. Your work directly impacts operational efficiency, user experience, and the quality of the patient care delivery.

Clinical Systems Management

  • Manage and oversee the electronic health record (EHR/EMR) system, including system configuration, maintenance, updates, audits, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of clinical documentation workflows and electronic record processes.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies, enhancements, and best practices related to electronic health records and clinical informatics.

Policy, Compliance & Data Integrity

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, accreditation standards, privacy laws, and health information management requirements.
  • Support data integrity, confidentiality, and security initiatives to safeguard patient and organizational information.

Collaboration & Project Leadership

  • Collaborate with IT, clinical, operational, administrative, and external stakeholders to improve system functionality, interoperability, and user experience.
  • Lead and facilitate the EMR Committee, providing guidance and strategic direction for system enhancements, optimization efforts, and organizational initiatives.
  • Coordinate and manage projects related to system implementations, upgrades, workflow improvements, and process enhancements.

Training, Support & User Engagement

  • Provide training, education, and ongoing support to staff and system users regarding EHR functionality, workflows, updates, and best practices.
  • Serve as a resource and liaison between end users and technical teams to address issues, improve adoption, and enhance system utilization.
  • Promote user engagement and change management initiatives to support successful implantation of new systems and process improvements.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Analyze healthcare data, operational metrics, and clinical reporting information using the EHR system and related tools.
  • Develop and distribute reports, dashboards, and insights that support quality improvement, operational decision-making, regulatory reporting, and organizational goals.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in electronic medical records, clinical informatics, healthcare technology, or related leadership roles.
  • Professional certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of EHR/EMR systems, healthcare regulations, clinical workflows, system implementation, and project management.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, collaboration, and staff training skills with the ability to work effectively across clinical and technical teams.

  • Advanced knowledge of EHR/EMR systems, healthcare software applications, hardware, networks, and system functionality.
  • Understanding of health information management, clinical documentation, coding, billing, reimbursement practices, and healthcare compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in healthcare data analysis, reporting, metric tracking, and data visualization tools to support operational and clinical decision-making.
  • Ability to analyze workflows, identify process improvement opportunities, and implement effective technology-driven solutions.

Position Details

Schedule: Full-time, non-exempt position with the expectation to work 36-40 hours per week. Regular and punctual attendance is required.

Physical Requirements: Requires continual sitting and typing at a computer terminal, some walking, bending, stooping, and lifting of up to 25 pounds.

Equipment: Computer, hardware and software, telephone. Standard office equipment.
