About the Opportunity

Our team is seeking an experienced Cloud Deployment Engineer to support the deployment, integration, and sustainment of modern infrastructure platforms within classified Department of Defense environments. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy hands-on infrastructure work and have deep experience deploying Linux, VMware, and Kubernetes platforms in enterprise or government environments. You will work alongside a highly technical team responsible for standing up private cloud environments, integrating multi-vendor technologies, hardening systems, and supporting mission-critical deployments. This position is primarily remote but requires travel to customer sites for infrastructure deployments, upgrades, integration efforts, and troubleshooting activities.

Required Qualifications

Must Have:

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher
  • Expert-level experience building and deploying Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Expert-level experience deploying and administering VMware environments
  • Experience deploying and supporting Kubernetes platforms
  • Experience operating within enterprise data center environments
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel up to 30% as project requirements dictate

Preferred Qualifications

  • Top Secret clearance
  • Experience supporting DoD, Federal Government, or classified environments
  • Experience with STIG implementation and security remediation
  • Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation, NSX, vSAN, vCenter, or ESXi
  • Experience with OpenShift, Rancher, RKE2, or other enterprise Kubernetes distributions
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or GitLab CI/CD
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or other public cloud environments
  • Knowledge of networking concepts including VLANs, routing, security zones, and load balancing
  • Knowledge of enterprise storage technologies and SAN architectures

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, configure, and integrate Linux, VMware, and Kubernetes platforms in classified environments
  • Install, patch, and harden infrastructure utilizing DISA STIG requirements and security best practices
  • Build and maintain RHEL operating system images and lifecycle processes
  • Deploy and configure VMware virtual infrastructure including ESXi, vSphere, and related components
  • Implement Kubernetes-based container platforms and support platform integration efforts
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, storage, virtualization, and application issues
  • Support customer data center deployments and on-site implementation activities
  • Integrate identity, security, monitoring, and logging solutions across multiple technology platforms
  • Remediate vulnerabilities and support compliance initiatives
  • Create deployment documentation, implementation guides, and operational procedures
  • Collaborate with engineering, security, and customer stakeholders to ensure successful project execution

What Makes Someone Successful in This Role

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in Linux engineering, VMware infrastructure, and Kubernetes deployments, with experience supporting highly secure environments. They are comfortable working independently, traveling to customer locations, and troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues across compute, networking, storage, and container platforms.

This is a Contract position based out of Washington, D.C..

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $110.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
