Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for a Graduate Environmental Risk Assessor to join our team! At GHD, our Risk Assessors are typically engaged in projects that apply risk assessment and risk management strategies to support contaminated site decision-making under Federal, state, and international site cleanup programs. This includes supporting and implementing site characterization and remedial action projects that involve efforts to identify and control potentially unacceptable human and ecological exposures to chemicals in the environment.

In this role you will evaluate large environmental datasets for a wide variety of traditional, as well as emerging (e.g., PFAS), or proprietary chemicals, interpret site characterization data, perform statistical and spatial data analysis, perform contaminant fate/transport and exposure modeling to quantitatively evaluate human health and/or ecological risks, assist with the preparation of reports and other written communications.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and may see you involved in:

  • Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching. Develop and maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Produce accurate reports for others by collecting data from a variety of standard sources and inputting it into standard formats.
  • Document Preparation: Organize and prepare complex documents using a variety of applications for technology devices, such as standard office software. Also responsible for gathering and summarizing data for special reports.
  • Sampling and Testing: Collect a range of straightforward samples and undertake testing as directed and in accordance with defined processes and requirements to support regulatory compliance activity.
  • Project Management: Support others by carrying out a range of project management activities.

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • Master degree in related field of Science, e.g., Biology, Toxicology, Ecotoxicology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or related field (Bachelor will be considered with work experience)
  • Knowledge or experience in ecological or human health risk assessment, environmental fate and transport modeling, statistical data analysis and sampling design, emerging contaminants (e.g., PFAS), natural resource damages assessment is a plus, but not required
  • Familiarity with spreadsheet and database software
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills required
  • Willingness to travel throughout North America

Salary Range: $65,000-$69,000 based on experience and location.
