Position: Junior Thespians Advisor
Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Junior Thespians Advisor to lead a weekly after-school theater program for younger students. The Junior Thespians Club introduces basic acting techniques through character development, creative exploration, and theatre games, helping students gain confidence and find joy in performance.
The ideal candidate believes that foundational acting skills can be taught in fun and engaging ways, even at an early age, and that theatre should be an exciting and imaginative experience for all.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead weekly Junior Thespian sessions focused on acting techniques, character development, and theatre games.
- Plan and facilitate a variety of activities including improv games (e.g., Freeze Improv), text-based exercises, and imagination-building activities.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment where students feel safe to express themselves and take creative risks.
- Prepare and guide students toward an end-of-session performance for parents and families.
- Encourage participation, teamwork, and personal growth through the arts.
- Communicate with families about schedules, performances, and student progress.
Qualifications:
- Passion for theatre and working with young students.
- Experience in acting, directing, or theatre education preferred.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to foster creativity and confidence in student performers.
- Organized, reliable, and flexible with weekly scheduling.
- Experience in youth drama programs or education is a plus.
