Position Overview

The Service Sales Representative grows service revenue and develops lasting customer relationships across Cana Communications’ fire, life safety, and low-voltage solutions.

This position manages the complete sales cycle for inspection, maintenance, repair, and recurring service opportunities—from prospecting and customer discovery through proposal development, follow-up, and close. The Service Sales Representative works closely with operations, estimating, and technical teams to develop solutions that are accurate, competitive, and operationally achievable.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and execute territory and account plans that support assigned revenue, margin, and growth goals.
  • Build a balanced pipeline of inspection, maintenance, repair, and recurring service opportunities.
  • Generate new business through prospecting, referrals, networking, customer outreach, and market research.
  • Develop trusted customer relationships by understanding each customer’s facilities, systems, compliance requirements, service history, and business priorities.
  • Conduct customer meetings and site visits to identify needs, recommend solutions, and uncover opportunities to expand existing relationships.
  • Prepare and present accurate proposals and quotations for fire alarm, low-voltage, inspection, maintenance, repair, and service work.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, inspection findings, and scopes of work to develop appropriate customer solutions.
  • Partner with operations, estimating, and technical resources to confirm scope, labor, materials, pricing, scheduling considerations, and operational capacity before making commitments.
  • Clearly communicate solution value, scope, assumptions, exclusions, and customer responsibilities while providing the follow-up and negotiation needed to close business.
  • Maintain complete and current customer, activity, opportunity, proposal, and forecast information in Salesforce.
  • Provide leadership and branch operations with reliable visibility into opportunity value, timing, probability, risks, and next steps.
  • Coordinate the handoff of sold work to operations, ensuring that scope, pricing, documentation, scheduling information, and customer expectations are clearly communicated.
  • Remain engaged as needed during service delivery to support a positive customer experience and the timely resolution of concerns.
  • Represent Cana Communications / Eagle Fire at customer events, trade shows, association meetings, product demonstrations, and other business-development activities.
  • Maintain knowledge of company capabilities, applicable industry requirements, market conditions, and competitive offerings through ongoing sales, product, technical, code, and systems training.

  • Listens to understand customers’ operational, technical, and compliance needs before recommending a solution.
  • Consistently prospects, follows up, and maintains an accurate sales pipeline.
  • Can understand technical information and explain solutions clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Considers scope accuracy, pricing, margin, operational capacity, and long-term account value.
  • Collaborates effectively with sales, estimating, operations, and technical teams.
  • Takes ownership of commitments and remains engaged through the successful customer handoff.

Qualifications

  • Two to five years of successful sales experience involving low-voltage systems, fire alarm systems, technical services, facility solutions, or a comparable service-based offering.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop customer relationships, manage a sales pipeline, prepare proposals, and close business.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and scopes of work to prepare accurate quotations.
  • Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with standard business applications and CRM platforms such as Salesforce.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel within the assigned market, including occasional overnight travel.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any licenses or certifications required by applicable national, state, or local requirements.
  • Authorization to work in the United States and ability to successfully complete applicable background screening and drug-testing requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, engineering, marketing, or a related field. Relevant experience and industry knowledge may be considered in place of formal education.
  • Experience selling fire alarm, security, CCTV, voice/data, communications, or other low-voltage systems.
  • Familiarity with inspection, maintenance, repair, and recurring service agreements.
