Packaging Technician

Placon is seeking a dependable Packaging Technician to work in our Madison, WI facility in support of our thermoforming operations. You'll be responsible for inspecting and packaging parts to specification, operating finishing equipment, and ensuring quality and safety standards are met. If you enjoy active, hands‑on work in a fast‑paced environment, this role is a great fit. No experience? We will train you.

Compensation

Starting base pay is $19.00/hr.

Night shift differentials:

  • Rotational 12-hours Nights: $19.00 base + $1.14/hr. shift differential = $20.14/hr.

Team Members on the rotating night schedule earn up to an additional $2,608.32 per year - or $100.32 more per bi‑weekly paycheck - compared to day shift.

Work Schedule

  • Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM | 2-2-3 rotational 12-hours
  • Night Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM | 2-2-3 rotational 12-hours

What You'll Do

  • Packaging Technicians will inspect and package products to meet quality standards
  • Apply labels, maintain case sequence, and use case tapers
  • Verify material for disposal or regrind and remove recycling tubs
  • Follow dispatches, print work orders, and process skid/hold tags
  • Complete Oracle transactions and perform rework as needed
  • Identify and report quality issues; read drawings and packaging specs
  • Maintain clean work areas, follow 5S, and use required PPE
  • Participate in Good Catch safety activities and follow GMP/SQF practices

What You Bring

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English at a level required for training, safety, and quality
  • Ability to identify color variation in materials (required for Print Department work)
  • Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently
  • Ability to handle differing opinions and resolve conflict professionally while upholding The Placon Way
