Facility Maintenance Specialist

Raymond West is looking for a dynamic Facility Maintenance Specialist to join their team! The Facility Maintenance Specialist is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, organized, and professional environment throughout all assigned offices, warehouses, and exterior facilities. This position performs routine janitorial services, minor building maintenance, facility inspections, and general repair work while supporting facility improvement projects and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary duties and responsibilities will vary with the specific position. Typical responsibilities are listed below. This list is not inclusive.

  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, safety, and professional appearance of all assigned office, warehouse, and exterior facility areas.
  • Perform routine custodial services, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, dusting, trash removal, window cleaning, and sanitizing restrooms, kitchens, break rooms, and common areas.
  • Maintain parking lots, sidewalks, entrances, loading areas, and other exterior spaces by removing debris and emptying outdoor trash receptacles.
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, tools, and supplies; restock facility supplies as needed.
  • Perform minor building maintenance and repairs, including painting, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical repairs, replacing light bulbs and ceiling tiles, and other general maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with facility improvement projects, office moves, furniture and equipment setup, renovations, and other building-related projects.
  • Maintain the steam pit area and other designated work areas in a clean, safe, and compliant condition.
  • Monitor, maintain, and coordinate the proper handling, storage, documentation, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections and identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and compliance concerns; report findings and support corrective actions.
  • Assist the Facility Maintenance Manager with facility maintenance activities, safety inspections, capital projects, and building maintenance coordination across all Raymond West South locations.
  • Participate in monthly and quarterly facility walkthroughs and safety inspections and provide written reports detailing findings and recommended corrective actions.
  • Operate powered industrial trucks and material handling equipment as required to support facility maintenance tasks.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance and cleaning requests in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with department managers, employees, contractors, and vendors to support facility operations and special projects.
  • Provide professional customer service to employees, visitors, and business partners.
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and environmental regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Travel to branch locations as needed to support facility maintenance operations.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with employees, managers, vendors, and visitors.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining clean, safe, and well-organized facilities.
  • Working knowledge of custodial practices, cleaning methods, equipment, chemicals, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow safety regulations, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, and company procedures.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform minor plumbing, painting, carpentry, and general building repairs.
  • Proficiency in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, cleaning equipment, and facility maintenance equipment.
  • Knowledge of proper hazardous material handling, storage, documentation, and disposal practices.
  • Ability to identify maintenance deficiencies, safety hazards, and facility-related issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, to complete reports, inspections, and related documentation.
  • Ability to operate powered industrial trucks, forklifts, and other equipment used in facility maintenance operations.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and make sound decisions in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including off-hours when necessary to support facility operations, maintenance projects, or emergency repairs.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development through training, certifications, and skill enhancement opportunities.
  • Ability to travel to branch locations as required to support facility maintenance activities.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Education/Experience:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Technical or vocational training in building maintenance or a related trade preferred.
  • Experience: Two (2) years of facility maintenance, building maintenance, or handyman experience, including minor plumbing, painting, carpentry, and mechanical repairs.

Travel Requirement:

  • Approximately 15% travel is required to support facility maintenance operations, inspections, projects, and safety initiatives at Raymond West locations in Cypress, Valencia, San Diego, and Las Vegas. Occasional overnight travel may be required based on business needs.
  • Must be able to be insured by Raymond West.

  • Position is non-Sedentary and work is performed in a branch and may require local travel.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and drive for extended periods while driving to company locations.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to work from heights using the appropriate equipment and adhering to safety protocols, this may include the use of ladders or mobile elevated platform equipment.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Position will require you to go to branch locations to perform duties where construction is underway.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The position will require employees to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to smell.
  • Position requires the employee to climb/balance/stoop/kneel/crouch and crawl
  • The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and the risk of electrical shock.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud.

Pay Range:

  • The hourly range for this position is $18.50 - $42.00. The specific pay offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location.

Qualified candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
