Summary

LSU Health New Orleans Division of Facility Services is seeking highly skilled applicants for the position of Maintenance Repairer 2 (Preventative Maintenance). This is semi-skilled work mainly performing preventative maintenance tasks across all on maintenance trades. Persons applying must possess a valid Louisiana Driver’s license.

Examples of duties

Two years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR

Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering; OR

Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.

Supplemental information

  • performs a variety of preventive maintenance inspections and functions necessary for the continued preservation and proper operation of equipment, fixtures and structures across all maintenance trades.
  • installing and repairing all types of piping for potable water supplies for fixtures, water heaters, sewerage lines, medical air/vacuum, acid waste, and gas lines
    unstopping and repairing storm water and sanitary drain lines
  • replacing ballasts and bulbs in light fixtures throughout the campus
  • hanging sheetrock to install new walls or repairs existing walls taking care not to bend, break, dent or cause unnecessarily large holes in the sheetrock
  • installing and repairing suspended ceilings
  • installing cabinets and other storage accessories
  • installing, repairing and replacing ceramic and vinyl tile and carpeting on floors
  • if needed may assist with painters with general painting tasks
  • possesses the ability to properly and safely operate the following equipment: manlift, mud and trash pumps, pipe threading machine, drill press, and other equipment used in daily tasks
  • stays alert for safety violations by other employees that may injure those employees, this employee, or other persons in the area
    campus maintenance emergencies
  • plan, price, and order materials necessary for repairs using proper facility purchasing rules/regulations
    special events work

Position-Specific Details:

Compensation: The starting rate of pay is $19.67 per hour and the 1st Quartile rate of pay is $23.61 with an additional $1 Longevity Pay for hours worked only. Rate of pay may be adjusted dependent upon applicants’ experience and qualifications.

Hours of Operation: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday - Friday
