Summary

Teach Transitional Math courses to a diverse student body using effective teaching strategies; develop, revise, and maintain course materials; recommend/design new programs; maintain office hours; participate in appropriate professional development opportunities; participate in College and community activities, promote the mission of the College; develop/implement retention strategies; assist in graduate placement; attend graduation ceremony; assist with student advising and registration; serve on College committees; promote institutional goals; assist with departmental administrative responsibilities. Teaching may be on any campus or by distance learning, and may be days, nights, weekends, or a combination.

TEACHING PERFORMANCE – The ability to present course materials through appropriate instructional strategies to facilitate the learning process.

INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPMENT – The development, revision, and maintenance of courses and curriculum through course objectives, outlines, and appropriate materials.

INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT – The effective use of required office hours, exhibition of effective classroom management and control, and timely and accurately submitted reports.

STUDENT ADVISEMENT – The participation of the faculty member, when applicable, in assisting students in personal and professional development.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND COLLEGE ENGAGEMENT – The participation in college and community service activities that promote the institution, along with ongoing professional development efforts designed to maintain and enhance skills, knowledge, and effectiveness in the position.

Examples of duties

Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Natural Sciences, Natural Sciences Education, or a related discipline.

Qualifications

Qualified to teach both transitional math and science, with experience teaching in a traditional classroom, a remote (synchronous) format, and an online (asynchronous) format, demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations representing a wide range of abilities, ages, nationalities, and cultures; experience using instructional technology; knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement innovative teaching strategies. Teaching experience in developmental or Adult education.
