Building Utility Worker B

The Building Utility Worker B supports facility maintenance, repair, and operational activities throughout the site by performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks. Working under directive supervision, this position assists with maintaining buildings, equipment, grounds, and infrastructure while supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the facility. The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical aptitude, experience across multiple trades, and the ability to perform hands-on maintenance work in an industrial environment.

Location: Covert, MI (On‑site)

Primary Responsibilities:

• Applying paint and similar materials by rollers, brushes, etc. in repairing and renovating buildings, interiors and exteriors, posts, fences, and gates, furniture and fixtures, etc.
• Maintaining and repairing buildings, equipment, yards, drives, walks, etc. by performing the less difficult plumbing, carpentering, welding, and cutting, masonry, etc.
• Performing the less difficult maintenance on heating and air conditioning equipment (i.e. filter replacement).
• Replacing glass panels in windows and partitions.
• Operating mobile equipment and performing rigging.
• Small engine repair and maintenance.
• Performing other similar or related work.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of combined experience in the various trades indicated above.
• Should have general knowledge of buildings maintenance standards asn practices and understand the use and care of tools required on this job.
• Must be able to work from schematics and diagrams
• Must demonstrate aptitude for mechanical work
• Must qualify for an automobile operator’s license and demonstrate ability to operate a motor vehicle safely
• Successful completion of the EEI MASS test.
