SBH Health System a 400 + bed Acute Care Hospital and Trauma Center in the Bronx, New York and academic health System affiliated with the CUNY School of Medicine and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine supporting 2 FQHC primary care centers / 2 faculty practice sites and an On-campus Ambulatory Care Center. Our IT/Telecom Department is seeking a Part-time switchboard operators
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES, but not limited
Makes Customer Service a priority, treating customers (patients, visitors, and co-workers) in a professional manner exercising courtesy and tact. Effectively communicates with patients and others about SBH services in their area(s) of expertise or responsibility and ensures that concerns, questions or issues reach the right person(s) in SBH in a timely fashion.
Answer and screen all incoming calls for the purpose of transferring to the appropriate department and extension.
Provide operator assistance to employee and patients.
Comply with in-house request for paging and beeping or personnel.
Process telegram requests for the hospital in situations when the Admitting office is closed and/or automated telegraph equipment are inoperative.
Responsible for the handling of all emergency (i.e. Team I, Trauma Team, Fire Code Red, etc.) as specified in the written policies and procedures pertaining to the switchboard.
Knowledge and compliance to all of the Hospital’s policies and procedures pertaining to the switchboard.
Accurate and continued maintenance of switchboard directories and files. This would include doctor’s list, frequently called numbers, on-call schedules, etc.
Perform other duties as directed

Requirements:
- Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalency preferred
- Experience/Skills Require
- Clear and distinct speaking voice
- Experience in dealing with the public
- Adaptable to change in work demands
