We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Trial Block Assistant to support our research and development trial activities across sites in Fresno and Fowler, California. This role is ideal for an agricultural student, recent graduate, or someone looking to gain practical experience in crop production, trial management, and agricultural research.
The successful candidate will work closely with the trial team to ensure the successful execution, monitoring, and reporting of field trials.
Key Responsibilities
- Tank mixing and application of fertilizers
- Monitoring and recording irrigation activities
- Implementing irrigation adjustments as required
- Capturing R&D data including: Yield assessments, Flower counts, Post-harvest evaluations
- Conducting pest and disease scouting
- Performing field activities such as weeding and general crop husbandry tasks
- Calibrating field equipment
- Executing spray applications or overseeing contracted spray operations
- Meeting with consultants to discuss field observations, issues, and challenges
- Providing regular photo updates to the Trial Manager
- Assisting with report writing and trial documentation, depending on experience and capability
Requirements
Candidate Requirements
- Currently studying or recently graduated in: Agriculture, Horticulture, Plant Science, Agronomy Related field
- Strong attention to detail and data recording skills
- Ability to work independently and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Basic understanding of crop production practices is advantageous
- Valid driver's license and own transport required
