Electrician

The Bethlehem Area School District is seeking a skilled and experienced Electrician to perform electrical maintenance, repairs, installations, and related work throughout the district. This position is responsible for maintaining safe, functional, and welcoming learning environments across district facilities. This is a full-year, 12-month position, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair, and replace electrical equipment, fixtures, and devices, including switches, outlets, lighting, breakers, motors, and related equipment.
  • Install new electrical circuits, including 120/208/277/480-volt systems, and low-voltage cabling inside walls or conduit in accordance with applicable electrical codes.
  • Service electrical connections for HVAC units, generators, motor controls, boiler systems, and commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit using appropriate trade tools and equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical issues and complete repairs efficiently and safely.
  • Estimate labor and material costs for electrical repair work and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of district hand tools, power tools, equipment, and hardware.
  • Utilize the district's electronic work order system to document time spent and work completed.
  • Interpret architectural drawings for school renovations and new installations.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work site and ensure tools, equipment, and debris are properly secured and removed.
  • Follow district protocols when working in occupied buildings and maintain a professional demeanor around students and staff.
  • Assist with district-wide snow removal as needed.
  • Perform additional maintenance duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; completion of an electrical apprenticeship or trade school preferred.
  • Must possess a City of Bethlehem Master Electrician License or reciprocal equivalent in good standing.
  • Three to five (3�5) years of experience as an electrician, preferably in a commercial or institutional setting.
  • Familiarity with applicable electrical codes and inspection requirements.
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings for renovations and new installations.
  • Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations involving whole numbers and fractions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work from ladders, lifts, and scaffolding.
  • Ability to travel between multiple district locations and work in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be willing to adjust priorities and respond to emergency maintenance needs as necessary.
  • Must achieve a satisfactory score on any required test.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills when working with principals, faculty, custodial staff, and other district personnel.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with electrical hand tools, power tools, meters, conduit benders, wire strippers, and other trade-specific equipment.
  • Ability to safely transport materials and operate district vehicles.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple work orders and priorities.

New Hire Starting Rate: $40.56 per hour
