General Kitchen Help

BASD is looking for dependable, team-oriented individuals to join our Dining Services team as General Kitchen Help. General Kitchen Help employees support the daily operations of BASD Dining Services by assisting with food preparation, meal service, cleaning, sanitation, and other kitchen and dining service duties.

The ideal candidate is hospitality-driven, brings a strong work ethic and positive attitude, and enjoys working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Employees may work in a variety of areas based on the needs of the school and kitchen. Previous food service experience is preferred, but training will be provided to candidates who demonstrate a willingness to learn and contribute where needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, cook, plate, and serve food according to established menus, procedures, and food safety standards
  • Provide friendly, professional service to students and staff
  • Operate cash registers and handle cash as needed
  • Wash dishes and clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, work areas, cafe, and dining areas
  • Assist with set-up and tear-down of cafe and retail areas
  • Assist with dry stock and perishable food inventories
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Work cooperatively with Dining Services team members and assist wherever needed to support daily kitchen operations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Previous food service or kitchen experience is preferred; training will be provided
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and commitment to excellent customer service
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to follow food safety, sanitation, and health guidelines
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations related to inventory and portioning
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

New BASD Employee Rate: $17.83 per hour
