Job Description

Organization Unit Purpose

  • Appraisal, assessment & control of credit exposures
  • Control function, which ensures group takes on assets which meets the Group’s standards on lending in terms of risk
  • Setting up up of credit limits for clients and delegated approval limits
  • Set up Credit policies which allow us to process credit proposals from Business Units (Wholesale Banking, BUB, PB - UAE & International) within agreed timeframe / turn-around time and ensure response levels.
  • On going measurement of credit risk
  • Assessment of provisions, portfolio health etc

Job Purpose

  • Evaluate credit proposals submitted by the Wholesale banking business units. Analyse and submit recommendations to management
  • Evaluate credit risk and suggest mitigating measures where possible
  • Ensure to maintain good quality of the Corporate Credit portfolio of the accounts/ BUs allocated
  • Ensure that lending proposals are in compliance with policies & UAE CB regulations
  • Close monitoring of portfolio of one / more CBUs (depending on size of CBU) especially accounts on border line i.e. OLEM / Substandard to ensure that they do not get into non performing category
  • Advise BUs with respect to managing of difficult accounts and monitor their progress
  • Review and make appropriate recommendations for provisioning of weaker accounts with respect to the portfolio allocated
  • Monitor exception / reports excesses, past dues, utilisation with respect to the allocated portfolio
  • Maximising returns from a relationship – advise relationship team/management on strategies for various groups
  • Analyse requests for changes in documentation / standard terms inclding liasing with stakeholders like Legal, CRAD, etc.

a) Maintain Service Quality and adherence to TATs (measured via Track Soft or similar reports)

b) Proactive Business Support and Quality of interaction with allocated BUs (to be 2 way)

c) Understand Customer Needs and undertake BU/customer visits as required.

Internal-Process

a) Quality of Credit Recommendations &/or approvals; necessary escalations/discussions

b) Adherence to Policy/Processes/Guidelines

c) Undertake sector/portfolio reviews

Internal-Compliance

a)Accuracy & quality of comments on various reports; monitor exception reports & a/cs for timely inclusion on EAR as per control & monitoring requirements.

b) Escalate covenant breaches & other audit remarks.

c)Ensure proactive portfolio management through regular monitoring of a/cs, especially PD/OLEM/EAR/PROV forecast a/cs/ repayments & reduce NPLs.

d) Monitor all exceptions on a proactive basis & minimize review overdue/ covenant overdue/ DDR.

e) Contribute towards achieving acceptable INA rating as a minimum (measured by GCD INA rating)

f) IFRS9 Governance & Staging to be completed per policy.

g) To ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

h)To support ENBD ESG initiative through automation of scorecard integrated in nCino (Loan Origination System) for credit assessment of proposals > AED 50M.

Education

  • Bachelor’s or master’s Degree
  • Diploma/certification in banking/finance

Experiences

  • 3+ years of banking experience
  • 1 year experience in corporate credit

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of corporate products including Trade Finance, Treasury, and Syndications/Club deals; and Real estate and Project finance

1. Credit risk integrity in loan underwriting decisions

  • Review credit applications to ensure alignment with internal risk policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Validate supporting financial documents and credit information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify inconsistencies or potential red flags in borrower profiles and escalate as appropriate.
  • Document credit assessment findings clearly to support transparent decision-making.
  • Coordinate with relationship managers to clarify application details and mitigate information gaps.

Performance Measures:

  • Quality of credit application reviews as evidenced by audit outcomes
  • Frequency of escalated exceptions due to incomplete or inaccurate documentation
  • Stakeholder feedback on clarity and usefulness of credit assessment documentation

2. Operational risk mitigation in credit assessment processes

  • Apply established credit risk controls when processing loan applications to minimise operational errors.
  • Monitor adherence to data privacy and confidentiality standards throughout the assessment process.
  • Flag process deviations or control breaches to the manager for timely remediation.
  • Maintain accurate records of credit decisions in the bank's risk management system.
  • Support periodic process reviews by providing input on observed risks or inefficiencies.

Performance Measures:

  • Incidence of operational errors or control breaches in credit processing
  • Quality of record-keeping as assessed in internal reviews
  • Effectiveness of risk mitigation as reflected in reduced process deviations

3. Regulatory compliance in credit documentation and reporting

  • Verify that all credit files meet regulatory documentation standards prior to approval.
  • Ensure mandatory disclosures and compliance checklists are completed for each application.
  • Assist in preparing periodic reports for regulatory or internal audit purposes.
  • Escalate potential compliance gaps or irregularities to the manager without delay.

Performance Measures:

  • Absence of regulatory findings related to credit documentation
  • Completeness of compliance checklists in reviewed files
  • Timeliness and accuracy of data provided for regulatory reporting

4. Data accuracy and quality in credit risk systems

  • Input and update credit risk data in core banking and risk management platforms with precision.
  • Cross-check system entries against source documents to prevent data integrity issues.
  • Identify and report data discrepancies or system errors to relevant stakeholders.
  • Support data quality initiatives by participating in periodic data cleansing exercises.

Performance Measures:

  • Accuracy of credit risk data entries as verified by system audits

  • Resolution rate of reported data discrepancies

  • Contribution to improved data quality metrics in credit risk systems

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field

  • Relevant certification such as Credit Risk Certification (CRC) or equivalent preferred

  • Ongoing professional development in credit risk or banking regulations
