The E3D Specialist will be responsible for providing specialist support in AVEVA E3D Design activities for a major ADNOC Offshore PMC assignment. The role will support the PMC engineering and project teams in ensuring that 3D model development, review, coordination, and deliverables are executed in accordance with project specifications, ADNOC standards, approved procedures, and applicable international codes and standards.
The position will work closely with the PMC Engineering, Project, Construction, and Contractor teams to ensure effective development and management of the E3D model throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist technical support for AVEVA E3D modelling and design activities across the project.
- Review and monitor contractor/EPC E3D models to ensure compliance with approved engineering deliverables, project specifications and ADNOC requirements.
- Perform detailed 3D model reviews, including equipment, piping, structural, electrical, instrumentation and other disciplines as applicable.
- Identify model clashes, design inconsistencies, constructability issues and interface problems and ensure timely resolution.
- Coordinate with engineering disciplines to ensure accurate integration of the 3D model.
- Review model development against approved P&IDs, plot plans, equipment layouts, piping specifications, datasheets and other engineering documents.
- Support model review meetings / 30%, 60%, 90% and final model reviews as required by the project.
- Ensure appropriate modelling practices, naming conventions, tagging, attributes and project databases are maintained.
- Monitor model quality and completeness and provide technical comments to EPC/contractor teams.
- Review piping routing, equipment arrangement, structural interfaces, access/maintenance requirements and offshore constructability.
- Ensure adequate consideration of operability, maintainability, safety, construction and commissioning requirements within the 3D model.
- Support the resolution of technical queries and design changes affecting the E3D model.
- Coordinate with the document control and engineering teams to ensure model updates are aligned with approved engineering documents.
- Monitor contractor compliance with project BIM/3D modelling procedures and E3D requirements.
- Participate in interdisciplinary design reviews and provide specialist E3D input.
- Support development and review of model deliverables required for fabrication, construction and offshore installation.
- Ensure model integrity is maintained throughout the project and that changes are properly incorporated and traceable.
- Provide guidance to engineering disciplines and contractor modelling teams on E3D best practices.
- Support project reporting on model progress, quality, clashes, interfaces and outstanding actions.
- Review and verify final as-built / as-installed 3D model information where applicable.
PMC Responsibilities
As part of the PMC team, the E3D Specialist will:
- Monitor EPC/contractor performance against contractual E3D and 3D modelling requirements.
- Review and approve/comment on contractor technical submissions within the delegated authority of the PMC.
- Ensure compliance with ADNOC standards, project specifications and approved design procedures.
- Identify potential design and construction issues early and escalate significant risks to the PMC Engineering Manager/Project Manager.
- Maintain effective communication with ADNOC, EPC contractors and other project stakeholders.
- Support technical assurance and ensure that project deliverables meet the required quality standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Design, CAD/Design Technology or a related discipline.
- Specialist training/certification in AVEVA E3D / PDMS is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of 3D plant design and modelling principles.
Experience
- Typically 15+ years of relevant experience in oil & gas engineering/design, with significant experience in AVEVA E3D/PDMS.
- Previous experience working on offshore oil & gas projects is strongly preferred.
- Experience with major EPC/EPCM/PMC projects and large multidisciplinary 3D models.
- Previous experience supporting ADNOC or other UAE/GCC oil & gas projects is highly desirable.
- Strong experience in model reviews, clash detection, interdisciplinary coordination and constructability reviews.
- Experience reviewing contractor/EPC 3D models in a PMC environment is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in AVEVA E3D / PDMS.
- Strong understanding of plant 3D modelling and engineering design workflows.
- Good knowledge of piping, equipment, structural and multidisciplinary interfaces.
- Understanding of P&IDs, equipment layouts, piping specifications and engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of offshore facilities, topsides, modules, platforms and associated facilities.
- Familiarity with model review and clash detection processes.
- Good understanding of engineering change management and model revision control.
- Knowledge of relevant international codes and standards and ADNOC project requirements.
