Job Description

  • Serve as the named Product Owner for one or more Mukto Pay product streams — accountable for the business value, adoption and commercial success of the product, not for the status report.
  • Run the commercial product lifecycle end to end: Commercial Screen, Discovery, the delivery handshake, go-to-market and launch, and the 90-day post-launch review.
  • Write the Commercial Screen for new ideas — problem, who earns the money today, our wedge, size, first-cut unit economics, distribution, regulatory perimeter, recommendation. Two days, one page, and a dropped screen filed with its reason.
  • Author the Agile BRD: the one-page Project / Product Passport and a ranked product backlog with acceptance criteria on every story. We do not write monolithic requirements documents.
  • Build the Commercial Model with Finance in Discovery: revenue per active customer, variable cost to serve, contribution margin, CAC, LTV and payback period — shown at conservative, plan and upside.
  • Fix the MVP boundary — the smallest release that can prove or disprove the business case — and name every deferred item and the release it is expected in.
  • Own and relentlessly prioritise the backlog. Write the epics, user stories and acceptance criteria personally, including the commercial ones: the fee is applied to the right party at the right rate, the commission is booked correctly, the metric is instrumented.
  • Set OKRs with pre-launch baselines — adoption, behaviour, margin — and take them, with the evidence behind them, to the monthly Portfolio Council and the Quarterly Review.
  • Own pricing and commission structure within the agreed margin band, and the trade-off between distribution reach and margin; escalate outside the band to the Portfolio Council with Finance.
  • Own the GTM plan and the commercial go/no-go — including the authority to hold a technically ready release that is not commercially ready. Chair the Launch Readiness Review one week before launch and take a ready / not ready answer from each named owner.
  • Run the first 90 days on the dashboard: activation funnel, realised CAC by channel against the ceiling, repeat behaviour and contribution margin. Verify the unit economics with Finance and bring a scale / fix / sunset recommendation with the evidence.
  • Keep the product inside the licence perimeter — Bangladesh Bank limits, KYC tiers, trust account and settlement treatment, AML/CFT controls, and BTRC rules where telco channels are used. The backlog adapts; the control does not.
  • Maintain a first-hand competitive teardown of the MFS incumbent, the nearest challenger, bank-led propositions and QR/card alternatives — tested on live accounts with your own money, not read off a website.
  • Engage Finance, Marketing, Distribution, Customer Operations, Risk and the Banglalink commercial channels from Discovery onwards, as services to the product rather than as gates in front of it.

Academic Qualification

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree. Business, finance or economics is the most common route; engineering, computer science, statistics, design or another analytical discipline is equally acceptable.
  • The subject of the degree is not a filter. Evidence of structured commercial reasoning is.

Job Experience Required

  • At least 6 years of professional experience, of which a minimum of 4 in product development or product management — in a fintech, mobile wallet or MFS operator, payments company, bank, digital bank or consumer lender.
  • Has served as the named Product Owner on at least two products taken from concept to production, carrying the outcome and not only the specification.
  • Demonstrable experience of the full cycle: business case → product definition → delivery → launch → post-launch performance management.
  • Hands-on agile experience — backlog in Jira, sprint reviews, acceptance decisions taken personally.
  • Digital wallet, merchant acquiring, agent network, bill payment or digital lending experience is strongly preferred. Bangladesh market experience is an advantage, not a requirement.

Required Capabilities

  • Can write an Agile BRD to standard: a one-page Passport with evidence in every field, and a ranked backlog with testable acceptance criteria.
  • Can build and defend a business case in a model they built themselves — unit economics, CAC, LTV, contribution margin, payback.
  • Numerate, and unwilling to present a number without its source and its date.
  • Genuinely interested in the business, not only in the product: knows who earns the money in this market today, at what rate, and through which channel.
  • Knows the competition first-hand — has opened the competing apps, paid the fees, and can describe the tariff from memory.
  • Writes clearly and briefly. One good page beats ten.
  • Prioritises with a method (WSJF or equivalent) and defends the ranking, rather than pushing scope-versus-value trade-offs to the Project Manager.
  • Works as a peer with engineering, design, risk and compliance, finance, marketing and distribution; earns influence without relying on authority.
  • Holds a line under commercial pressure — comfortable saying “not ready” and moving the date rather than the standard.
  • Understands payments regulation well enough to know what needs checking, and engages Compliance early rather than at launch.
