About the Role

As a Service Technologist, you will install, troubleshoot, commission, service, and support Argus greenhouse climate control systems and industrial automation equipment at customer facilities throughout Ontario.

This role combines technical troubleshooting, customer support, field service, and system optimization. Every day is different—you'll work with climate computers, irrigation controls, electrical systems, automation equipment, sensors, networking, and custom control panels while helping customers keep their greenhouse operations running efficiently.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Install, commission, configure, and service Argus greenhouse control systems.
  • Troubleshoot software, hardware, electrical, and communication issues.
  • Diagnose and repair greenhouse automation and environmental control systems.
  • Program and optimize climate control systems to maximize greenhouse performance.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on greenhouse automation equipment.
  • Install and troubleshoot sensors, controllers, irrigation systems, and environmental monitoring equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with greenhouse customers.
  • Document service calls, repairs, and technical findings.
  • Provide technical training and support to customers.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and installation teams on new projects.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency service support.
  • Travel throughout Ontario to support customer sites.

Requirements

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience servicing greenhouse automation or industrial control systems.
  • Direct hands-on experience configuring, programming, commissioning, or servicing Argus Control Systems.
  • Hands-on experience installing, commissioning, programming, or servicing greenhouse automation, climate-control, environmental control, climate computer, or irrigation control systems.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and repair technical problems independently in the field.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, automation, control-system, hardware, and software issues.
  • Hands-on experience with PLCs, industrial automation systems, networking, industrial communication systems, electrical controls, sensors, instrumentation, and control panels.
  • Able to read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical drawings, and control schematics.
  • Experience travelling to customer sites to install, commission, repair, and service equipment in the field.
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance on automation or control equipment.
  • Experience working directly with customers, operators, maintenance personnel, growers, owners, or management and clearly communicating technical problems and solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation, Mechatronics, or Engineering Technology.
  • Experience with greenhouse climate computers.
  • Recent and substantial hands-on experience with Argus Control Systems.

Technical Skills

Experience with any of the following is considered an asset:

  • Irrigation controls and environmental control systems.
  • Microsoft Office.
