The Position

We are seeking an experienced, intrinsically motivated Mechanical Design Engineer driving for technical excellence within the Medical Device Hardware Design Discipline. This role requires at least 5 years of professional expertise and a proven ability to master complex work packages while fostering cross-functional collaboration to ensure high-quality, sustainable design outcomes.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Act as an experienced and knowledgeable Mechanical Design Engineer.
  • Establish and drive technical knowledge sharing across organizational units.
  • Think out of the box for incremental optimizations as well as for innovative alternative solutions.
  • Express increasing technical leadership and within the mechanical engineering team.
  • Develop reusable design concepts to optimize department-wide efficiency.
  • Drive continuous process improvement within assigned work packages.
  • Manage end-to-end work package execution, including effort estimation, cost planning, and timeline management.
  • Conduct data-driven root cause analyses and present actionable redesign solutions to stakeholders.
  • Communicate project progress and technical insights in team meetings.
  • Author, review, and maintain formal technical documentation in accordance with Roche processes and standards.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with Production, Procurement, Quality, and Service teams.

Must-Haves:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in medical device development or similar mechatronical development
  • Substantial expertise in mechanical and mechatronic design principles.
  • Proven analytical and systematic approach to cope with complex engineering challenges.
  • Proficiency in CATIA V5, SolidWorks, and SAP DVS.
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 8015 standards and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Strong team-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous learning.
  • Professional proficiency in German and English.
