As a Microbiome & Applied Bioinformatics Intern at Nestlé Research, your mission is to build a modular microbiome analysis pipeline by combining scientific literature with AI-supported code development. You will make a difference by collaborating closely with the Health Data Lab team, microbiome scientists, and research partners. How you’ll make an impact as a Microbiome & Applied Bioinformatics Intern

• Identifying state-of-the-art microbiome analysis methods through scientific literature review and responsible use of AI tools
• Developing and testing modular microbiome bioinformatics pipelines that enable reliable and scalable research workflows
• Benchmarking pipeline performance, reproducibility, and scientific accuracy to support robust research outcomes
• Challenging AI-generated code and analytical approaches to ensure scientific rigor and sound implementation
• Communicating insights, findings, and recommendations to scientific teams to support innovation and knowledge sharing

What will make you successful

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Data Science, Computational Biology, or a related field, with a passion for applying data-driven approaches to scientific challenges
• Applying knowledge of scripting, open-source bioinformatics tools, version control platforms, and data analysis techniques to develop practical and effective solutions
• Working with Bash or shell scripting, GitHub, and open source bioinformatics workflows, while demonstrating curiosity for leveraging AI-powered tools to support scientific research and code development
• Being organized, collaborative, and open to feedback, with the ability to think critically, challenge assumptions, and adapt to emerging technologies and scientific questions
• Communicating fluently in English, both written and spoken
• Demonstrating courage, collaboration, speed and continuous learning, while translating ideas into measurable impact and creating shared value
