Postdoc in Chemical Immunology

We offer a fully funded 3-year postdoc position starting in March 2027. The project will investigate the chemical synthesis, formulation, in vivo delivery and immunoregulatory action of a series of novel compounds that we have produced in-house. More specifically, we will use and improve these compounds for delivery into mice and test their ability to modulate inflammation and cancer immunity.

The position is in close collaboration with Professor Katrine Qvortrup at DTU Chemistry and Associate Professor Andrew Urquhart at DTU Health Tech.

You will join a dynamic and international team that utilizes in vivo mouse work and human clinical samples to understand the signaling pathways that govern immune cell development and their importance in various diseases, such as cancer and inflammation. The team has a strong ethos of direct collaboration, and you will be often asked to help with and be involved in other projects as a result of helping your colleagues.

The group is part of the Section for Experimental and Translation Immunology at the Department of Health Technology. Our section has all the necessary infrastructure and comprises of diverse teams with multiple technical and theoretical expertise.

Required qualifications:

  • You must have a PhD degree by March 2027
  • Extensive and demonstrable experience (through publications or thesis work) with mouse immunology; experience with inflammation and tumour models will be given priority
  • FELASA B certification or equivalent that licenses work with mice in Europe is necessary. Applicants without such qualification will be rejected immediately with no further review
  • Extensive and demonstrable experience (through publications or thesis work) with synthetic chemistry
  • Extensive and demonstrable experience (through publications or thesis work) with Western blotting
  • Demonstrable experience (through publications or thesis work) with drug formulation
  • Demonstrable experience (through publications or thesis work) with multi-parametric flow cytometry
  • Experience with isolation and culture of mouse cells from various organs
  • Basic skills in biochemistry (e.g. protein identification, IC50 binding assays, fluorescence techniques such as TRF, FRET, HTRF).

Applicable responsibilities:

  • You are expected to be able to organize and perform experiments, and critically analyse data
  • You are expected to work largely independent and coordinate the project among collaborators
  • You are expected to demonstrate techniques in students and new members of the lab
  • You will have to present in lab and section meetings frequently
  • You will have frequent meetings with the group leader
  • You are expected to be part of larger experiments not in direct association with this project
  • You are expected to contribute to basic lab maintenance

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
