Systems Engineering Technical Lead (Powertrain)

Bugatti Rimac, part of the Rimac Group, brings together two forces that have redefined the automotive world. By combining Rimac’s cutting-edge electric performance and innovation with Bugatti’s 110+ year legacy of crafting iconic hypercars, we are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in automotive engineering.

Our team is at the core of this, we work with passion, aim for excellence, and take ownership of what we do. We grow together, pioneer solutions, and deliver vehicles that set new standards.

Get in the driver's seat

As a Systems Engineering Technical Lead in Powertrain Department, you will lead the technical definition, integration, validation, and delivery of complex powertrain systems for a high-performance vehicle platform.

Working with a systems engineering approach across all the Powertrain systems, Vehicle Integration, Controls, Calibration, Quality, Manufacturing, and Program teams, you will translate vehicle-level targets into robust system and component requirements, align cross-functional technical decisions, and ensure the powertrain system delivers performance, safety, reliability, and production readiness.

You will love this role if you enjoy connecting vehicle-level objectives with deep technical system detail, bringing structure to complex engineering challenges, and leading teams through development from concept to launch.

Where you’ll make an impact

  • Lead the end-to-end systems engineering activities for the powertrain on a vehicle platform, from concept definition through validation and production release.
  • Translate vehicle attributes, regulatory, safety, and customer targets into clear powertrain system requirements and technical deliverables.
  • Own and maintain system architecture, interfaces, functions, operating states, diagnostics, and integration logic across powertrain sub-systems.
  • Coordinate technical decisions across engine, e-machine, inverter, HV battery, transmission, thermal, controls, calibration, software, chassis, and vehicle integration teams.
  • Drive requirements cascade, traceability, verification planning, issue resolution, and change management in line with system engineering best practice.
  • Lead powertrain integration reviews, design reviews, risk assessments, and technical gateways, ensuring open points are clearly owned and resolved.
  • Support powertrain virtual and physical validation planning and execution across MiL, SiL, HiL, dynos, rigs, and vehicle-level environments.
  • Analyze system-level issues, identify root causes, align containment and permanent corrective actions, and communicate status to program and engineering leadership.
  • Mentor engineers, promote structured problem solving, and help build a high-performing systems engineering culture within the powertrain organization.

What are your core components

  • Significant experience in systems engineering, powertrain engineering and vehicle integration.
  • Strong understanding of electrified high-performance powertrain systems, including e-drives, batteries, engine, transmission and thermal management.
  • Experience leading cross-functional technical delivery in complex vehicle programs, ideally from concept through launch or production release.
  • Confident working with requirements management, system architecture, interface definition, validation planning, change control, and technical risk management.
  • Ability to connect vehicle-level targets with sub-system requirements and make robust technical trade-offs across performance, efficiency, durability, NVH, safety, cost, timing, and manufacturability.
  • Hands-on experience with engineering development and validation environments such as CAE, MiL, HiL, dyno, rig, and vehicle testing.
  • Familiarity with tools and methods such as Polarion, DOORS, Jama, Cameo/SysML, Jira, MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Clear communication style, strong stakeholder management, and the ability to lead technical discussions with both experts and senior leadership.
  • A structured, accountable, proactive mindset, with the resilience to operate in a fast-paced, high-performance vehicle development environment.
