Mechanical Engineer

We are looking for a "Swiss Knife Mechanical Engineer" to join our Vehicle Development team. In this role, you will design and develop mechanical components, assemblies and integration solutions for our autonomous vehicles. Using your automotive knowledge and strong CAD capabilities, you will work with highly motivated colleagues across engineering disciplines, suppliers and prototype activities to deliver robust, manufacturable and serviceable solutions that support safe and reliable autonomous mobility.

What will you do?

• Deliver compliant, accurate and release-ready mechanical designs.
• Meet automotive criteria for safety, durability, quality, weight, cost and service.
• Maintain traceability between requirements, design decisions and evidence.
• Ensure clean mechanical interfaces across vehicle systems.
• Support reliable prototypes and transfer toward production.
• Communicate progress, assumptions, risks and trade-offs early.
• Promote practical innovation, ownership and cross-functional teamwork.
• Be available for team for consultations and decisions.
• Reporting and informing team (and management) about relevant topics.

Regular tasks

• Design components, assemblies and installation concepts in CAD.
• Maintain 3D models, drawings, tolerances, BOMs and change records.
• Run packaging, interface, manufacturability and serviceability reviews.
• Coordinate daily with electrical, embedded, test, product and suppliers.
• Resolve design issues and document technical decisions.
• Support sourcing, prototype builds and vehicle integration.

Occasional tasks

• Join hands-on build, rework and field issue investigations.
• Visit suppliers and support part qualification.
• Benchmark technologies, materials and competitor solutions.
• Create fixtures, test parts and rapid proof-of-concepts.
• Support estimates, recruitment interviews and technical workshops.
• Writing product descriptions and specs.
• Present and escalate topics to management.
• Strategic Workshops participation.
• Interviews and presentations for media and brand promotion.

Decision-making authorities

• Own day-to-day design choices for assigned components and interfaces.
• Select concepts, materials, tolerances and manufacturing methods within agreed requirements.
• Prioritize assigned engineering work with the project lead.
• Approve drawings and CAD maturity for internal review or release, when delegated.
• Reject non-compliant parts and request corrective action.
• Escalate safety, architecture, timing, cost and supplier risks.
• How to present the work best way possible.

Managerial authorities

• Source external suppliers.

What do you need to succeed?

• Mid-level to Senior, typically 5+ years in automotive or complex product development.
• Wide automotive systems knowledge.
• Advanced CAD capability.
• GD&T and drawings.
• Materials and manufacturing; packaging.
• DFM/DFA.
• Structured problem solving.
• Hands-on prototyping.
• Clear technical communication.
