Project Manager in Strategy & Transformation

  • Icelandair
  • Hafnarfjörður, Iceland
  • ISK 9,000,000 – ISK 12,000,000

We are looking for a versatile Project Manager to take ownership of some of Icelandair’s most important strategic and operational initiatives. This is a hands-on delivery role for someone who can quickly understand a complex challenge, create clarity and momentum, and bring people together to turn decisions into measurable results.

You will move comfortably between strategic problem-solving and practical execution: shaping the approach, mobilizing cross-functional teams, preparing decisions, resolving obstacles, and staying close to delivery until the intended outcome is achieved. The role is well suited to someone who thrives in a varied environment, takes initiative, and enjoys working with people across different functions and levels of the organization.

Key responsibilities:

  • Own the end-to-end delivery of strategic and operational projects, from initial definition through implementation and close-out.
  • Lead cross-functional teams and stakeholders, creating shared ownership, maintaining momentum, resolving obstacles, and ensuring clear visibility into progress, risks, and required actions.
  • Manage external vendors, partners, and consultants, ensuring their contributions are aligned with project objectives and delivery plans.
  • Break down complex challenges into actionable plans and develop the analysis, recommendations, and decision material needed to move projects forward.
  • Support implementation and change adoption, including digital and technology-enabled initiatives where relevant.
  • Maintain focus on measurable business value and ensure that intended outcomes are translated into results.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant university degree and demonstrated experience in project management, business transformation, management consulting, change management, or a related field.
  • Experience leading projects, initiatives, or workstreams involving multiple stakeholders and delivering measurable outcomes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with the judgement to adapt your approach to different challenges and stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust, influence stakeholders, and work effectively across different teams and levels of the organization.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability, with a track record of taking initiative, maintaining momentum, and following through on commitments.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and facilitation skills, including the ability to prepare clear material for decision-makers.
  • Fluent written and spoken English; Icelandic is an advantage.
