Physical Security Engineer

At Bulk, our mission is to build sustainable infrastructure that supports the digital society of tomorrow. As one of the leading providers of sustainable, high-performance data center solutions in the Nordics, we design and operate infrastructure that powers artificial intelligence and the digital society – efficiently, securely, and with 100% renewable energy. We are now looking to hire a Physical Security Engineer to help implement, maintain, and continuously improve technical and physical security solutions across our data center sites.

As our Physical Security Engineer, you will play a key role in keeping our facilities secure and resilient by delivering physical security projects, managing security systems, and ensuring that maintenance activities meet operational, compliance, and business continuity requirements. The role offers close collaboration with operations, construction, IT, and security service providers.

As our Physical Security Engineer, your key responsibilities will be:

  • Manage technical security systems including access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, intercoms, perimeter detection, key management, and visitor and badging systems.

  • Ensure physical security systems are maintained, tested, documented, and operated in accordance with company standards, site requirements, and compliance obligations.

  • Monitor the health, availability, and performance of physical security systems, coordinating corrective actions for faults, alarms, and service interruptions.

  • Support access control configuration, camera coverage reviews, alarm testing, system commissioning and handover from project to operations.

  • Lead or contribute to physical security system projects from requirement definition through design review, implementation, testing and operational handover.

  • Participate in design reviews for new data center builds, expansions and retrofit projects to ensure physical security requirements are embedded early.

  • Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance with vendors, site teams and service providers, ensuring safe work execution and minimal operational disruption.

  • Investigate recurring technical issues and drive root cause analysis, corrective actions and lessons learned.

  • Provide technical direction and guidance to vendors, contractors and security service providers during projects, maintenance and incident resolution.

Who are you?

You are a structured and detail-oriented engineer with a strong technical understanding of physical security systems and a genuine interest in keeping critical infrastructure safe. You are proactive and solution-oriented, comfortable coordinating multiple stakeholders and calm under pressure when supporting incident response or urgent maintenance needs.

What you bring:

  • Relevant technical education or equivalent experience within physical security systems, ICT, or similar technical fields.

  • Documented experience and knowledge of access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, alarm monitoring, networking fundamentals, system integration, commissioning and maintenance processes.

  • Project coordination or project management experience, including vendor coordination and technical documentation.

  • Fluent written and spoken English; Nordic language skills are an advantage.

Beneficial experience:

  • Experience with data centers, critical infrastructure, or high-security environments.

  • Knowledge of relevant security standards such as EN 50600 / ISO 22237, along with ISO-based management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001, ISO 22301).

We encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply, even if you don't tick every box above. We value curiosity, structure, and a willingness to learn just as highly as a perfect match on paper.

  • A dynamic, growth-oriented workplace with a strong sustainability focus.

  • Comprehensive insurance and annual health check.

  • Additional time off during Easter and Christmas.

  • Monthly contribution to home internet costs and sustainable commuting.
