People Experience (PX) Advisor - Fixed Term | 12-month Parental Leave Cover

We are looking for an experienced and trusted People (PX) Advisor to join our dedicated Sime Motors PX team, primarily based in Mt Wellington, Auckland. This role will also require occasional travel throughout New Zealand.

This 12-month fixed-term parental leave cover role offers the chance to join a collaborative and high-performing People Experience team, supporting leaders and employees across a diverse national business.

You'll provide trusted advice on a wide range of people matters, including employment relations, performance, recruitment and employee development, while also contributing to broader PX initiatives and projects. With plenty of variety, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys building strong relationships, solving problems and driving positive people outcomes.

About the role

This role offers a high level of autonomy, and you'll be responsible for:

• Manage employee lifecycle activities, including recruitment, onboarding, and internal movements.
• Providing practical, commercially focused advice on people matters.
• Lead and support conduct, performance, grievance, absence management, and workplace investigations.
• Support medical incapacity processes, remuneration queries, and policy interpretation.
• Deliver people reporting, insights, and training that build leadership capability.
• Drive performance, talent, and succession planning activities.
• Maintain HRIS data integrity and ensure compliance with employment legislation and company policies.
• Contribute to key People Experience initiatives and projects.

You'll partner across multiple legal entities and business units within a global organization, confidently navigating complexity and balancing business needs with people-focused solutions. Success in this role will require sound judgement, adaptability and the ability to build credibility with a wide range of stakeholders.

About you

To succeed in this role, you'll bring:

• 3+ years' HR/People Experience in New Zealand, ideally in a generalist advisory environment
• Proven employment relations experience and a strong understanding of New Zealand employment legislation
• Experience using HRIS systems, preferably Workday
• Excellent communication skills, sound judgement and a practical, solutions-focused approach
• The confidence to work independently while building strong relationships with stakeholders
• Resilience, professionalism and discretion when navigating sensitive matters
• A collaborative attitude, positive outlook and willingness to travel within New Zealand when required
